Commercial Description:
The rich amber color and caramel flavor of this beer are derived from the generous amount of caramel malt in our recipe, with just a dash of roasted unmalted barley for a subtle toasted flavor in the background. The sweetness, body, and mouth feel tell you that this is an all-malt beer. The finish has a balanced edge of Willamen and Casade hoppiness which cuts through the malty character, leaving a clean palate which beckons for more. Note: the terminology of "stein" refers to the appropriate drinking vessel and not to a type of beer made with hot rocks.

Bottle. Pours clear copper in color, thin skim of an off white head. Smells malty and fruity, I kind of get a little prunes coming thru. Taste is good, flowery and fruity hops and some malt. More hops than what I was expecting. Fairly thin body, somewhat dry finish. Not bad.

The aroma is something between nuts and stale feet. This beer is brown with no head. The tongue and taste buds are walloped with a leathery taste.

Pours clear amber, atop which sits a thifk fluffy white head with exceptional retention & lacing. Aroma is hoppy, fruity, vegetal and tart -- perhaps some hint of infection. Tart sour grass dominates the flavor -- not at all appropriate for a Vienna, though I’m not sure it should be categorized as such since there is no indication the brewer brewed it to be a Vienna-style lager. Still, the tart grass notes are too overwhelming for the generic "amber lager" designation the brewery gives this product. Medium hop bitterness and floral flavor. Creamy but slightly thin palate. Not doing much for me.

Plain golden look. Thought I had drank my first Oktoberfest beer of the year but I guess it is not that. Sweet but a touch of hops keeps it well balanced.

Deep red with a nice off white long lasting head. Aroma of malt and caramel. Strong roasted malt and caramel taste with some hoppy bitterness at the finish. Full bodied with a nice heavy mouth feel. One of my favorites.

This just isn’t my thing. I know plenty of people who drink nothing else. Caramel and smoke with lots and lots and lots of malt flavor. Just not me, though. Interesting that the "serve in" descriptions don’t include "stein."

Pours a slightly hazy amber color. Medium off-white, frothy head with good retention. It leaves a gorgeous lacing in my Pilsener glass. Aroma is hoppy with herbal and fruity touches. Apples, mint, oranges some almonds and flowers like roses. Agreeable and solid, very clean and crisp. Flavor is bittersweet, nutty and fruity with hints of apricots, apples and rose hip. Quite enjoyable, flavorful Vienna. Creamy texture, nice velvety mouthfeel. Dry finish with reasonable bitterness. Herbal aftertaste. Very solid lager but I’m not overly impressed for a Top 5 for this style. I’m still wanting to taste some European Viennas.

A million thanks to <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/View-User-31163.htm&g for sharing this one, my first American Microbrew.

Copper color... malty aroma, a bit sweet... just enough hops to balance the beer very nicely... not my style of beer, but i can appreciate this...
