Commercial Description:
The rich amber color and caramel flavor of this beer are derived from the generous amount of caramel malt in our recipe, with just a dash of roasted unmalted barley for a subtle toasted flavor in the background. The sweetness, body, and mouth feel tell you that this is an all-malt beer. The finish has a balanced edge of Willamen and Casade hoppiness which cuts through the malty character, leaving a clean palate which beckons for more. Note: the terminology of "stein" refers to the appropriate drinking vessel and not to a type of beer made with hot rocks.

From the bottle, pours a clear scarlet with a thin white head. Aroma is malty, with grapes, figs, plums, dark fruit. Taste is fully malty, rather rich and with hints of caramel and dark fruits. Thick but clean. Pretty tastey, I’d order again.

12oz bottle: Apperance is an amber brown with a slow fading white head, aroma of caramel and vienna malt, flavor is much better than i expected, perfect balance in bitterness not much caramel in the flavor good amount of vienna malt along with some roasted malt with no off flavors.

Sweet malt, caramel aroma. Amber color with an off white head. Sweet malt, caramel and roasted malt flavors. Crisp hop finish. A nice example of the style.

Murky amber color with a thin but persistent off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt and almonds. Flavors of chocolate toffee and a slight astringent finish. No hop feel that I could detect.

Clear amber-orange color and moderate head. Aroma of caramel, malt and Granny Smith apples. Medium sweet, toasty and a llittle floral hoppiness with more of the hint of apple and some apricot notes. Smooth lingering finish. I was quite surprised by how much I like this.

Nose is sweet caramel and bready malt with a hint of spicy nutmeg and a tinge of something almost metallic (not really in an unpleasant way, if that makes any sense). Taste is light and nutty, a slight brown sugar sweetness and a crisp, just slightly bitter finish. Highly drinkable stuff, a very good effort at a not so popular style. Kudos lakefront.

This is a very enjoyable Vienna with a fair amount of hop bitterness but this beer is balanced. Page 273 of MJ’s Great Beer Guide and only 146 of his 500 Classic Brews to go.

Reddish amber color, thin head, and a nice hoppy nose. Watery caramel/malt taste, with a nice amount of hops.
