| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 6, 2005 In the bottle. Pours a hearty amber with a fluffy yellow head. Sally the cat types this about the beer while walking on the keyboard: wssssssbnnnne9oooooo. Decent malty aroma. First flavor is a slightly sour surge. Follow this with a weakly hoppy taste. This is the closest beer I’ve ever had to a cheese taste. Odd. Light palate and well carbonated. Leaves a lasting bitter taste that is not particularly pleasing. If this is an all-malt beer, does that mean that this brewer usually uses adjuncts? JK (2967), Richfield, Minnesota, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 12, 2005 Updated: Feb 20, 2005This brewery continues to impress me. Several of their beers seem to rely on sweetness through heavy malt, and it works well for them. This beer is all about malt; it is there in the aroma and very much so in the flavor. Sweet, and the "subtle toasted flavor" is clearly present but not dominant. A great Vienna, and there are not many of those. bb (2930), Martinez, California, USA

Mineral. light spice, malt aroma. malt flavor with some spicy noble hop backing. Lingering malt sweetness, spice, and grass. Medium bodied. Dogbrick (2905), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 6, 2003 Thanks to CaptainCougar for this one. People seem to compare this one with Great Lakes' Eliot Ness but it's not exactly a photo finish in my book. Pours a very clear amber color with a thin off-white head. Aroma is malty and a little nutty. Flavor did not have as much rich malt character as I would have liked, but it is easy to drink. There are enough hops in the finish to keep it interesting. I'd get this again but Mr. Ness is still Untouchable as far as I am concerned. beerinmarch (2829), Washington, USA

Pours dark amber with a tall white head. Very smooth and creamy on the palate with a great balance. austinpowers (2828), New York, New York, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 3/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jul 25, 2002 Updated: Aug 22, 2007Rerate: Not entirely sure what style this is, but it’s rather malty, with a touch of sourness (not a bad thing). Very flavorful. A hint of bitterness. Everytime I taste this (I’ve had four), it strikes me as being different from most other beers and somewhat unusual for a lager to be so flavorful. Fantastic stuff! Thirst-quenching.
Rerate 8/07: Perhaps more bitter than I remembered, but I like it! IrishBoy (2722), Bakersfield, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 7, 2007 12 oz bottle; nose of caramel malt and sweetness; dark copper with a big long-lasting, glass-lacing beige head; flavor of caramel and some fruity sweet notes, with a tiny bit of lingering bitterness for a finish. Very good vienna!
