Commercial Description:
The rich amber color and caramel flavor of this beer are derived from the generous amount of caramel malt in our recipe, with just a dash of roasted unmalted barley for a subtle toasted flavor in the background. The sweetness, body, and mouth feel tell you that this is an all-malt beer. The finish has a balanced edge of Willamen and Casade hoppiness which cuts through the malty character, leaving a clean palate which beckons for more. Note: the terminology of "stein" refers to the appropriate drinking vessel and not to a type of beer made with hot rocks.

Pours a hazy, dark amber hue with some decent beige froth. Settling in slowly to a thin blanket with a pronounced ring around the edge, the foam leaves broken arches and sticky spots of lacing on the glass. The nose shows primarily toasted biscuit malts and cereal grains, with subtle grassy hop notes and a dose of unfortunate diacetyl. Flavors are similar, a bit sweeter than expected with the biscuit coming forward some. Toasted rye and wheat bread grains are prominent, while grassy, floral hops offer a touch of balance. The palate falls on the watery side of medium bodied and is moderately carbonated. It’s a decent brew save for the diacetyl buttery notes.

Poured fairly clear brownish auburn. Medium head. Medium body; somewhat sweet; malt, caramel, minimal hops. Lacks complexity, but easily drinkable and tasty.

Appearance: muddy bronze body, below a small, dunnish head. Aroma: a bit complex! Bitter, dark fruits mingle with caramel overtones, although the dominant aspect is dry, with a whiff of carbonation. Malt is felt prominently, and seriously kicks in once you get it up to the lips. Great texture right up front, and a very mellow mouthfeel. Little hops, but substantially malty. That’s what this beauty is all about, and it delivers a fantastic, rewarding taste all the way through. Rich, tasty, lush, warm and friendly, full in body, this is a malty masterpiece. Just a perfect lager in every respect, never, ever lacking in flavor.

12 ounce bottle from a mixed 8 pack that was purchased at Nugget in Woodland, CA, Metallic, fruity, estery, lightly banana yeastiness that has been present in all of Lakefront’s beers so far. Transparent amber-copper body with a small off-white head and scant lacing. Lightly sweet, somewhat husky maltiness is present to begin. Becomes a little roastier and covers the mouth nicely. A lightly dry, herbal, light bitter hoppiness is present towards the end. A pretty good brew.

Amber body with medium carbonation and a thin, soapy white head. Appetizing aroma of fresh caramel malt, nuts, and a hint of floral hops. Flavor is malty with a sour hop character. This is an interesting session brew.

Bottle. Sweet malty aroma, caramel with very light hops. Amber body with a fizzy and relatively noisy off-white head. Sharp bitter sweet taste, caramel and light toast, light acidity and sourness. Medium body, acidic finish. A little syrupy. This does not appeal to me. ... Have I had a bad bottle? By comparison, I seem to have really crushed this one.
