Commercial Description:
The rich amber color and caramel flavor of this beer are derived from the generous amount of caramel malt in our recipe, with just a dash of roasted unmalted barley for a subtle toasted flavor in the background. The sweetness, body, and mouth feel tell you that this is an all-malt beer. The finish has a balanced edge of Willamen and Casade hoppiness which cuts through the malty character, leaving a clean palate which beckons for more. Note: the terminology of "stein" refers to the appropriate drinking vessel and not to a type of beer made with hot rocks.

Pours a nice almost red amber in my proper 1 liter stein. I put three bottles of it in there and have to say its alllllright. At first its pretty malty and it leaves sort of a metallic aftertaste, witch in this case is not a bad thing, but I have gotten used to the wheat beers in my stein. I will stick to my franizkaner but a nice change.

This has always been one of my favorite beers. But the recipe has changed, and not for the better. Does not have the same smooth qualities as other years. But still a great beer!

Rich malty body of melted caramel and subtle chocolate notes. Pours dark amber with a tall white head. Very smooth and creamy on the palate with a great balance.

Nose is sweet caramel and bready malt with a hint of spicy nutmeg and a tinge of something almost metallic (not really in an unpleasant way, if that makes any sense). Taste is light and nutty, a slight brown sugar sweetness and a crisp, just slightly bitter finish. Highly drinkable stuff, a very good effort at a not so popular style. Kudos lakefront.

12oz bottle: Apperance is an amber brown with a slow fading white head, aroma of caramel and vienna malt, flavor is much better than i expected, perfect balance in bitterness not much caramel in the flavor good amount of vienna malt along with some roasted malt with no off flavors.

Clearly their flagship beer. Nice dark appearance. Great full flavor. Not too hoppy. Good Head. Wonderful finish. Leaves me wanting more. Should be sold nationally.
