Commercial Description:
The rich amber color and caramel flavor of this beer are derived from the generous amount of caramel malt in our recipe, with just a dash of roasted unmalted barley for a subtle toasted flavor in the background. The sweetness, body, and mouth feel tell you that this is an all-malt beer. The finish has a balanced edge of Willamen and Casade hoppiness which cuts through the malty character, leaving a clean palate which beckons for more. Note: the terminology of "stein" refers to the appropriate drinking vessel and not to a type of beer made with hot rocks.

Aroma of malt, yeast, a little bready slight hop nose. Taste mroe of same, slightly dry but with a good mouthfeel. Pours a dark reddish with a modest but lasting head.

Bottle. Cherry and caramel malt aroma. Brown amber color with moderate head. Sweet caramel malt with light hops finish. Much nicer body than you usually get with a Vienna.

Thanks to buckybeer for this one. Hazy deep copper pour with 2-finger creamy khaki head. Aroma of tart fruit, caramel malt, brown sugar, almonds, vinous fruit. Tastes sweet, with a big caramel malt element, plus brown sugar and conciord grapes. Well done!

(02.18.06) Sampled at FebFest ’06, Libertyville, IL. Clear amber hued ale with small white head. No discernable carbonation. Light sweet malt aroma. Medium bodied ale that starts with moderate malt sweetness and caramel flavor. Finishes with light malt fade. Very malty with barely perceptible hop presence. A good session beer

This beer is pretty common here in Milwaukee (it’s even at sporting events), and I’ve had it a few times. It tastes to me like an amber ale with a good hop presence (rather than as a Vienna or Maarzen), and is rather good. Appearance is a dark red-brown color with decent head formation. Aroma is a nice caramel malt and fruity hop balance. Flavor is also similarly balanced, with an assertive hop presence. Mouthfeel is full bodied. Quite good.

Heavily malted lager - not much flavor upfront - just smoothly sweet, very sweet. There is a slight grapefruit/green apple tart bite at the end which lingers. Nice color with no head retention. Nice bottle art, makes it fun to drink.

Poured a very nice swirl of mahogany and copper. The head was slightly off-white and had some retention. Some lacing. The aroma was malty and sweet with some nice floral and citrus undertones. The flavor followed suit. Malt was the star of the show, but the floral and citrus hops balanced it out nicely. Average body and mouthfeel. Nice.

Bottle. Deep amber color with a frothy off-white head leaving webby lacing. Aroma of toasty cookie/caramel malts, with some floral/honey and even pale fruit notes. Full but not-too-sweet malty flavors-- granola/ toast/caramel balanced by a nice measure of hoppiness (citrus/grass). Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Great little malty lager, balanced all around, and as a bonus I feel like I got a slight bargain with the price.
