Sep 28, 2004 Light malty aroma, hops evident. Not much head. Color is brown/red. Round, medium body mouthfeel. Developed malt taste. Slightly fruity, a little bitter in the end. Not bad.

Jul 25, 2007 Amber pour with a thin white head. Caramel malt nose. Sweet flavor with a dash of spiciness and a touch of toasted malt. Nice and smooth. Very tasty.

May 15, 2005 Updated: Aug 11, 200812oz bottle. 38.5° to start. Pours reddish/copper with an off whitte head. Aroma is sweet malt, maple syrup. Nice full mouthfeel. The flavor is slightly fruity, malty, with a touch of hops. Slightly bitter finish. I did not like the first one I had, but I came to appreciate it after drinking most of the 6-pack over the last couple months. Drinking this one with chili.

Apr 11, 2005 Pours a bit lighter than I thought it would, and the malty aroma signals the taste to come. Caramel and toffee malt tastes dominate, with some whitebread toast flavor peaking near the finish. Immeadiately after this toast flavor, the hops start to shine with a mellow bitterness that nicely rounds off the beer. Body is wet and light, but this seems to work well for the taste.

Aug 9, 2007 Overall, a very credible brew. Pours a dark, golden amber with a reasonable creamy head. The palate is a wheaty base overlain with sweet malts, caramel, and cracked, roasted barley. Respectable hops and a nice alcohol warming comes through in the finish.

Mar 28, 2007 Nice amber color, medium tanned head. Aroma is hoppy and of honey, nuts, apples. Flavor is flowery, of honey, apples, nutmeg, liquorice, bread. Dry finish, bit bitter.

Sep 14, 2009 Bottle. Pours a mahogany body with a yellow white head. Malty with caramel body and a faint dry hoppiness. Toffee and a dry malty body with a mild sweetness. A bit bland and very session able as the name suggests.

Aug 8, 2007 This just isn’t my thing. I know plenty of people who drink nothing else. Caramel and smoke with lots and lots and lots of malt flavor. Just not me, though. Interesting that the "serve in" descriptions don’t include "stein."
