This wasn’t all that bad but not all that great either. Nice look to it. Dark, almost black body with a tan frothy head. Aroma was roasted espresso, some cocoa, hints of vanilla, toffee. Light to medium body with a smooth texture. The flavor was pleasant. Balanced. Very like many Irish stouts. A respectable brew.

Bottle. Very dark with a reddish hue. Thin tannish head sticks around for a little while. Malt and spice aroma with a smokey back. The first taste is an interesting combination of spices and malts. Fairly complex and sweet with a smooth aftertaste. Pretty good, would buy again.

Bottle. Black as night with a small tan head that fades quickly. Aroma of roasted malt and smoke. Thin with little carbonation. Flavor is an earthy almost sour taste with roasted malt. Tart, bitter finish. Good but not my first choice if I’m going to order a stout.

12 oz bottle. Thin black color with an aroma of bubblegum and cocoa. Mouthfeel is thin but the carbonation is lively and powdery. Flavor is dank and musty but too thin and light. Not much maltiness and just too thin bodied.

Pours black with a thin head that fades to a broken layer of tan bubbles. Aroma is slightly sour with a mild bitter roast. Flavor is a divided sweetness, a very bitter roast, and a fairly acidity. The lack of coheasion in the flavor and relatively strong acidity hurts this beer.

Deep black; soapy tan head. Roasty, inviting nose. Somewhat light-bodied and thinnish, with a lively carbonation. Flavors of coffee with cream and sugar with burnt toast. Bitter, grassy hops and a pinch of sourness/tartness. Kind of edgy in some ways. Sharp, burnt aftertaste. Pretty good, but kind of lacking in body and balance.

Black with a tan head. Loads of coffee aroma as well as bitter chocolate. This is a dry stout with more flavor than many others. There is a nice roasted malt flavor, and like many of Lakefront’s beers, rather sweet. More flavor than American Guinness.

Nearly opaque chocolate brown body, good, 1/2" dollop of cocoa tan fuzz above. Aroma: bitter and roasty, coffee hints, chocolate whispers, whiff of nuts. Nice enough. Taste: a bit too thin in body for a stout that I’d favor, finish dies right off the palate. As for flavor, the roasty, coffee-ish taste is there, in a minor fashion, but doesn’t play much on the tongue...slight bitter bite. Body really needs to be bigger, and there’s just not much going on. If they want an entry-level Guinness-substitute, without rocking anyone’s boat, this is a fine accomplishment...but it brings me little joy. I can drink it down just fine, but will not return to it after this 6 pack is over and done.
