There are much better budget beer red alternatives such as Laker Red. Tastes like Lakeport pilsner with sugar and red dye added. I’m sure that’s all they did to make this putrid brew.

Well, it’s better than any other Lakeport beer I’ve had, which is quite an honour of sorts. Colour is red with a large, almost pink head, and the flavour is basically brown-sugary soda water. It’s actually not as nauseating as you might fear it to be. But alas, it is still crap, but it gets you drunk, so you drink it because in the given situation you don’t know any better. What a strange and uncomfortable scene. garthicus (1311), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Musty-mown grass aroma, some artificial type scent coming through too. I think you needed to see my face for a true description of the taste--- have you ever gone to youtube and searched for kids eating lemons? Just foul, sour and sweet, carbonated, metallic finish, fookin hell, this is awful, only slightly better than lakeport ale,,,, shudder hazer772 (18), Hamilton, Ontario, Canada

To me is very similar to Rickards. only tried in a can Radek Kliber (3986), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada

Appearance :Pours as clear darkened amber with hint of ruby red, medium large fizzy top (off tan). Fragmental lace. Nose :Sweet mineral , caramel like aroma , light hint of generic bitters. Flavor/Palate : Thin bodied , soft malty base with hint of caramel , soft grainy finish with industrial feel to it. Fizzy with out substance, very light. Shallow would describe this beer properly. Close your eyes and it will be hard to guess this brew is of dark tint. Artificial coloring? It is not horrible but middle of whole sale discount pack.

Over-fizzed and otherwise lifeless palate. Unpleasant astringent flavour dominates weak malt character. You get what you pay for with this one. djjodskins (6), Canada does not count | 0.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 3/5 | 1/10 | 1/5 | 1/20 | May 27, 2007 This has to be one of the worst beers i’ve ever bought. Don’t get me wrong, i don’t mind lakeport brews, lakeport strong is not bad and brava is a great cerveza, and especially good when the cash is tight, but this was godawful. At first glance, (and glass) it has a nice red amber hue and creamy head, and on the first few tastes seems like a reasonable attempt at their own version of rickards red and all these new red beers out lately. On my second beer i begin to notice the horrible sugary undertones which become very overbearing and frankly, disgusting. After a couple i am absolutely dry and foaming at the mouth from too much sugar, its as if they made a standard batch of lakeport pilsner and poured a metric ton of red syrup in the vat. i traded the rest of mine with my friends for other beer, and all my friends also found it completely abhorable. This is coming from 19-20 year college kids, who may not know their beer nearly as well as the conneisseur, but we know when were jipped with a badly brewed, artifically flavored beer. | 1.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 1/5 | 3/20 | Apr 20, 2007 This is Lakeport’s newest buck a beer. And a buck a beer is too much. This is a pure adjunct and sugared all to hell mix of kife. The pour is appealing, dark copper with a beige head and some retention. The aromas are straight out the gutter wet paper, burnt malts, stale hops, maybe some old damp hay. The flavour profile is sweet and faux. Like brown sugar mixed with lakeport pilsner. A touch of old hops and cardboard, with syrupy ass. A complete debacle in a bottle. Why bother making a new colour of a beer you already produce?
