Bouteille brune, 500 ml; oeil : dorée avec des reflets jaunâtres, légèrement voilée, légère effervescence, mousse blanche qui tombe rapidement; nez : odeurs peu prononcées, levure (pain), épices, caramel, pomme; bouche : commence toute pétillante, épices, caramel, madère, poivre, finale où l’amertume et l’alcool apparaissent, moyennement sucrée et amère, corps moyen mais texture aqueuse; en résumé : spéciale Glouglouburp (1943), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Feb 26, 2006 341ml bottle. Cloudy blond with a head that is gone before you halfway done, unless you’re very thirsty. Does not have that banana-fruity aroma that I expect from a weizen. Instead I got this spicy acid citrus grapefruit taste. This beer, like half the people I know is below average. mds (2111), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 3, 2005 bottle. Hazy yellow-golden colour with a small white head and lace. Aroma is predominately pepper and clove with emphasis on yeast...there is also light notes of lemon. Flavour has a reasonable amount of fruit but it’s mostly spices. Quenching body with a dry finish. Not a whole lot going on and nothing to get excited about but it’s a decent simple weizen. Goldorak (424), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Apr 10, 2005 Sampled on-tap at Vices & Versa
Appearance: Honeycomb yellow, clowdy, with a thick frothy head that held it’s own for a while.
Smell: I was expecting a lot more banana. I found it amongst the grainy aroma, but I really, really had to look.
Taste: You can taste the wheat up front, than a mix of bitterness and acidity, and the finish is malty sweet. Not a bad Weizen, but not a great one either.
