The flavor is caramel, fruit, and slightly bitter. This is a good beer. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 27, 2006 Draft. Not sure who listed this beer, or how I became the first to drink it, but here goes. Deep coppery pour with ruby edges, and a great creamy, off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, hops, vinous fruit, cherry, red grape, even some blueberry hints. The taste is caramel malty, fruity, vinous, with nice complexity and a nitrogenated mouthfeel. Very smooth and quaffable, I would have called this a red ale based upon its fruitiness, but lets compromise and call it a damned good brown ale. Earlier Rating: 3/10/2006 Total Score: 2.9 Draft at brewpub. Coppery brown colored with some aroma of caramel malt, almonds, and sligh brown sugary fruit. The palate is medium to light, with malt, caramel, nut, and some brown sugar hints. biznizness (940), Mooresville, North Carolina, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Feb 5, 2006 On tap at the pub... not crazy about this. I was looking for a nice malty flav here but the brew came up short. This brewpub seems to have the same overabundance of lighter, mild ales and lagers that a lot of places have. Nothing to set this one apart from the others, really. BTW, this was called "Red Rose Amber" at the brewpub. pbjclimber (150), Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 20, 2005 I had this on tap at teh brewery. It was a pale amber color with very little head retention. There is a distinct malt flavor with a little hop taste at first, it had a watered down flavor. VA Homebrewer (525), Portsmouth, Virginia, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Sep 19, 2005 Orange-ish copper color with a minimal head. Light hop and malt nose, but not at all pronounced. Sortof a bland flavor profile with some caramel notes and earthy hop notes. Not nearly as interesting as some of Lancaster’s other offerings. Sortof a British style pale ale along the lines of what Bass ale used to be 10 years ago. cazort (418), Newark, Delaware, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 6/20 | Aug 20, 2005 Not very interesting. Tastes vaguely beer-like, but has very little flavour or aroma. To its credit, has no real unpleasant qualities. Not recommended. Nejhleader (930), Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, USA

| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Mar 11, 2005 Tap at brewery (Red Rose ale). Pours a light, watery-looking amber color with virtually no head or lacing. Smells floral and malty. Very lagerish. Bitter, and not very tasty or drinkable.
