Smells moderately hoppy with a clear reddish bronze color. Flavor is slightly bitter and acidic. Body is medium. This beer is excellent at the brewery! Very fresh! No real grain taste — I mean if you warmed it up you could detect rye and barley and the rye is present as an aftertaste. This is a thin watery beer, with plenty of hops and not much else. Maybe servie with barbeque on a hot summer day, but not with anything spicy. I’m noting lots of variation in the reviews. Mine had no head — muzzlehatch had a large lasting head. hellhammers (23), hanover, Pennsylvania, USA

Nothing like a bakey fresh lancaster amish four grain straight from the oven to quench your feigning for a pretzel. Thats right..it’s a liquid pretzel, that when poured into your mouth, creates an instant yeast bomb in your mouth. A few sips of the four grain will leave you with a mouth full of suds, reminiscent of when your mom shoved a bar of dove in your mouth for cursing.
The pour is fine..into the glass, that is.
If you drink this beer cold, you’ll find yourself cursing the amish, and will have the instant urge to disassemble a horse and/or buggy. lamas (730), Adams Morgan, Washington DC, USA

Pours a very pretty cloudy red with a tan head and plenty of little floaties. Smells and tastes VERY sour and slightly of hops. Finish is bitter and hoppy. I kinda like it but I don’t think it’s what was intended. VERY sour. jgb9348 (2515), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 1/5 | 9/20 | Oct 28, 2004 Hazy amber coloured body with a nice small frothy tan head. Aroma of strong fresh hops, caramel, malt and a good amount of raisins. Medium-bodied; Strong malt backbone is noticed first, then followed by a prevalent hop flavour. Aftertaste shows some bitter and acidic (at the same time) malt with a light hoppiness. Overly tart finish composed of hops and some of the light fruity sugars. Aftertaste not reminiscent of the taste at all-a wierd finish! Overall, a good beer from the start, but it doesn’t finish too strong. Try their Milk Stout or another brand’s Pale Ale. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased at Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 16-October-2004 at the Eastern Shore of Virginia. MaiBockAddict (1499), Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey, USA

Golden and clear, with a white head. Light and grainy flavor and aroma. Nothing that stands out. raymow (738), Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA

It’s getting better, however, the further I get into the glass. Huge foamy white head remeniscent of a Belgian beer. Overall, not bad - somewhat different, but I think in a good way. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Sep 24, 2004 Brassy body with amber center and golden edges. Head is stiff, medium-thick and extra-long lasting eggshell colored froth. Smell is light, florally fragrant and showing a bit of fruit, copper pennies and lemon hops. Taste is hoppy but not like pine. Mostly chocolate and coffee hop flavors, sweet and drying with blood/pennies at the end.
