| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 15, 2006 Bottle. Pours hazy orange gold, off white head. Aroma is peach, citrus and floral. Flavor is caramel, peach, and malt. Weak on hops, but interesting flavor. This is almost like a belgian dubbel. bubbleflubber (903), Collinsville, Virginia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 6, 2006 HUGE head on this beer with wonderful 4-finger retention, reminiscent of whipped egg whites. It pours caramel-amber into the glass with great webbed lace. The nose is uniquely great... spiced candy fruit slices. Lots of spice in this IPA, not quite indicative of style, but a very nice quality nonetheless. It’s interesting to note the candied citrus notes, and the lack of true citrus/grapefruit. It’s not bad, mind you, but just different. Very sweet malt notes throughout, and a medium (citrus-based) pine hop finish. The mouthfeel is resin-syrupy, and well balanced. Very complex IPA, and very unique all the same. Very nice, all in context! zanad96 (11), Frederick, Maryland, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 10/10 | 2/5 | 17/20 | Aug 2, 2006 Excellent beer. It is not an incredible IPA but provides a beautifl pour that keeps a great head. I found this to be much smoother than many "hop heavy" beers. zach8270 (2140), Henrietta, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 31, 2006 (bottle - 12 oz) Nice and rich amber color with a thin and creamy white head and great lacing. Aroma is chock full of lots of hops and some citrus. Some floral hints as well. Flavor begins rather mild and then increases in intensity as you drink more of the beer. Finish is floral and bitter with a nice citrus aftertaste. jwdevalue (158), Neptune, New Jersey, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 24, 2006 Good aroma, decent taste and a decent pour. After taste could be better. Great price for a 6’er Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jul 19, 2006 Pours a dark amber color with a perfectly formed head of nearly two inches that lasts throughout the experience. Heavy pine like hop aroma and tons of malt in the background. Does not taste extremely hoppy but there is a lot there. Maltier and more alcoholic tasting than I expected. Slight metallic finish. Much stronger than I thought it would be. treadyroc (112), St. Leonard, Maryland, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jul 14, 2006 The 7.9% intrigued me when it appeared at our local store, so I picked up a 6-pack (for a very reasonable price, I might add). The Hop Hog pours a very (very) light amber, with a frothy head that quickly diminishes, but holds until the end of the beer.<!-- br --><!-- br -->
The Hop Hog tastes respectable at first, but it has a milky, un-finished aftertaste to it that I simply cannot reconcile. Even after the 2<!-- sup -->nd<!-- /sup --> beer, that <!-- em -->off<!-- /em --> taste persists. I think this is an IPA with a lot of potential, but just has yet to iron out its quirks. doubleipa (224), Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 12, 2006 Had this on tap at Kclingers (Hanover) and at the Lancaster brewery. It seemed hoppier at Kclingers - go figure. Appearance is darker than most IPAs. A little bit more of a malt characteristic than most IPAs. Nothing out of the ordinary here - seems like there are so many of these type beers these days.
