Commercial Description:
Our hoppiest beer to date! This formidable India Pale Ale has a hop aroma that demands attention. The bold, citrus hop flavor is balanced by a dry malt character that makes this refreshing ale a true classic.

POSSIBLE INFECTED/BAD BOTTLE. This India Pale Ale pours an orange gold color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is caramel and pineapple. Kind of sweetish smelling and there is some other sweet aroma that I can’t identify. A medium bodied IPA. Malts are caramel and sweet with lots of pineapple and orange flavors. Hops are citrus and floral. That said there is something off or wrong with this beer. There is some cardboard and a sour tartness that should not be there. It is not quite a “sauerkraut/mustard” taste but it’s just not right. Hides the 8% alcohol well. Mouthfeel is full. Finish si crisp and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Copper Coloring with White Head. Wet Hop Aroma...Very Strong Dry Hop Taste but Wet Enough as to Not Make it Unquenchable...Nice IPA!

Rerate: Well I finally found a bottle that wasn’t infected, so I can give this the score it deserves. Pours a transparent copper bronze with a thiin-lacing cover of wispy white head. Soapy, floral candy hop sweetness rules the aroma. Body starts with a light crystal malty sweetness and some fresh grapefruity hops before a drier, bittersweet and lightly buttery finish. I’m just not a big fan of this, even when it’s not soured.

I hate to post this, but I sampled two different bottles of the 2005 batch and this was what I got both times: Pours a lighty hazy copper orange with a long-lasting, lightly-lacing white head. Aroma of some citrus and sauerkraut of all things. I hate sauerfraut, so it was hard enough to convince myself to go any further than smelling this beer. Body starts with tart sour maltiness and more mustard/sauerkraut flavor. Unlike any infection I’ve smelled before, but there were some vile organisms in here. Luckily from the looks of it, not too many bottles turned out this way.

Draft at the Greene Leafe Cafe. Pours a translucent amber-gold...standard off-white fluffy head. Yep, nose is all about citrusy hops and maybe a touch of light maltiness. Flavor is more hops..citrusy and bitter with some lightly sweet malts hanging in there. Nice dry finish....overall a nice resiny IPA.

Bottle: Courtesy of Secret Santa. Aroma has a nice blend of caramel, sweet citrus, pineapple, and grapefruit hops. Pours a transparent amber with a small off-white head. Rather sweet up front. Pretty big pineapple presence. I’ve seen people mention that in IPA’s, but this is the first time I’ve noticed it. Light caramel is mixed with the pineapple. Finishes with a 50/50 mix of flowery and grapefruit hops. Borders on being an IIPA.

Copper color with a thin head. Nice grapefruit aroma. Strong citrusy hop taste with a solidly dry finish. Good enough malt base to keep it from getting carried away as hop juice.
