The malt is a little indefinable, caramelly without that crystal malt flavor, and some...peanuts? Hops were assertive but not overpowering. A good, drinkable ale. And 7.8%? Coulda fooled me. The only weird thing I’ve found with this local favorite is that it’s never been the same twice. I’ve only had it on tap, and it’s differant each time, mostly in mouthfeel. It has really, really introduced hops into the PA Dutch area! pineypower (1107), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 26, 2005 Pours out a nice amber color. Good floral hop aroma. Taste was hoppy with some sour notes somewhat like a flemish sour. Lime notes made this a very interesting IPA, very interesting beer. hershiser2 (923), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 25, 2005 Bottle. Amber in color with a nice, pretty head. Sweet hoppy aroma- some floral, citrus, and pine... nice. Flavor is full of bittersweet cascade hops- but not overdone by any means. In fact, it’s nicely balanced- with a hint of tasty malts. A very nice beer. roder60 (1033), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 22, 2005 Poured a dark yellow/orange color with a nice amount of foamy white head. Very floral hoppy aroma with pine and lime undertones. Very nice smooth citrus and hop flavor, not overly hoppy which i liked. Overall i though this was very good. Flavor was an aboundance of sour lime. If any of you recall those plactic lemon or Lime items they sold and squirted liquid. Well if you have had one of them thiat is the flavor. Dry citrus aftertaste on the palate. Mangino (1027), Mississippi, USA

Aroma is mellow grapefruit, orange, pine needles, cinnamon. Flavor is definitely dominated by the hops. Very little malt to this one. JPDIPSO (4935), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 3, 2005 Lightly hazed dark amber liquid with a tall dark tan, fluffy head. Pure raw hops aromas. Pine and mild caramel in the nose. Fairly much all hops in the aroma makes me less than thrilled with the scents presented. Citric and grapefruit flavors dominate from the start. Again the raw hops are all over the place. I feel I am chewing on some pine cones. Enough heft in the body to help, but the malt is hard to find. The malt does come out slightly in the finish. As it warms some mild caramel comes out as well as a mild licorice hops flavor. Not enough balance.
