Another beer that was served a little too cold for my liking and so the expected hoppy nose was blunted somewhat. The first taste is well really lovely hops but you can tell that there are a number of different types all lending their own characteristics. There is a heavy perfumey taste and also a slightly numbing taste coming from this beer, I liked this beer but as it wasn’t mine it was quite swiftly taken back by Loz. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 4, 2008 Bottle. Amber in color with a nice, pretty head. Sweet hoppy aroma- some floral, citrus, and pine... nice. Flavor is full of bittersweet cascade hops- but not overdone by any means. In fact, it’s nicely balanced- with a hint of tasty malts. A very nice beer.

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 29, 2008 Translucent orange-brown body with a consistent, relaxed effervescence... a frothy single-finger off-white head levels unevenly in a Corsendonk snifter... having just put up the Christmas tree, Hop Hog picks up the spruce scents nicely--a bit of vanilla or caramel too? Creamy, full body that envelops the tongue and fizzs between the teeth, as the name suggests... when chewed, however, the effect is not harsh or sedimentary... a slight acidic burn accompanies Hop Hog down the throat... a pleasant balance of hop and malt--almost sip by sip! An aftertaste that is unobtrusive and reaffirming... the second of four reviews for the Lancaster sampler is similar to the first--a strudy, respectable approximation of the style, as this IPA is big on hops, pleasant on the tastebuds, and welcoming of seconds... | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 26, 2008 12 oz. bottle; Aroma is that of a traditional IPA - hoppy - however, Lancaster throws in a hint of citrus scent that almost comes across as malt. The initial bitterness of the beer is almost completely stabilized by this same malt. In the end, the beer finishes bitter citrus hoppy and is just what you’d expect out of an IPA. Good beer - would drink again! daknole (3000), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA
