Commercial Description:
A mighty lager-style brew, dark in color. Our Doppelbock brings a big malty sweetness together with the classic lager smoothness, topped off with a slightly evident alcohol flavor. A toasty brew to battle even the coldest winter nights.

Although this brew varies wildly from season to season (and they appear to have changed the recipe drastically recently), I am going to rate it on the Doppelbock that I often know and love. This brew is disarmingly strong in alcohol. The taste only hints at that underneath, and it is easy to get lost in the complex flavors of the malt, fig, and dark chocolate. As of late, there is a very strong coffee overtone which I do not care for. Much too similar to stouts which over-use that. This beer goes down amazingly easily. It truly is an easy-to-drink beer. Not exactly ’lagerish’ as the description implies, but not too far removed. When made properly, and served in a fine pint glass with regular bar staples, this is my favorite brew in the world. It’s not perfect, but that’s what I love it for.

Sampler, at Lancaster location. Pours a clear dark brown body with light carbonation. Nice clean malty aroma with some light coffee and roast, sweet and thick smelling. The flavor is just as clean. Slightly sweet but not overbearing, light roast, light-roast coffee, and a nice clean crisp finish with just a little lingering sweetness. Medium to full bodied with nice soft carbonation, nice hearty texture. This was pretty darn good.

I thought I was getting a growler of celtic rose, but it turned out to be the dopplebock. The aroma was sweet and malty with a bit of hops, the appearance was a clear dark amber with a 2-finger head. The flavor was malty, and bitter but clean. The palate was fairly thin, average. Overall its a good clean beer, but a little to bitter for me. It goes pretty well with a scoop of vanilla ice cream right in the beer.

I was surprised that this was a nine percent beer. I thought it was good. It was smooth and I could drink quite a few of these. I nice showing from Lancaster. Try this one if you get your hands on it.

Sort of a cherry wood color with light lacing, tan head. Nice piney aroma. Didn’t expect the hoppy front. Sort of like a malty pale ale. Very good, however, if you choose to eat here, they’re very proud of their mediocre food. Enjoy the beer.

Tap @ LBC - Dark amberish bronze, tan creamy head. Nose held malty notes of toasty caramel, dark fruit, and hints of smoke. Well balanced flavors with a nice touch of hops late. Full bodied, soft carbonation, malty finish. Best brew of the evening...

Darker brown with a medium tan head. Roasty, sweet aroma. Taste is malty-sweet with a medium body and a decent finish. Decent D-Bock.

On draft at the six pack store. Pours brown with a small compact tan head. Aroma of caramel, dark fruit, and alcohol. The flavor was slightly sweet, caramel, with a nice alcohol punch. Great body, good brew.
