Lancaster Litening Lager

The Lightning Lager does not stand out in a crowd. It sets out to be a fine lager, and accomplishes that well. The taste actually takes a little time to develop in the mouth. The aroma isn’t overbearing, and neither is the taste. It has a soothing, pleasantly spicy taste. However, the taste stops there. There is little to speak of in terms of after-taste. This brew slides across the tongue so easily that one might feel disappointed by the lack of diversity in its flavor. Makes for a nice growler fill to share with others, but any more than one pint per person will bore the palette.

Had a glass at the Lancaster Brewing Company in Harrisburg. I don’t think it is of value to go to deep into the flavor etc. It is a classic American Light Lager. Certainly a well executed beer for the masses. Significantly more malty/flavor that the mass market beers (Bud, Mller, Coors). Nice crisp finish, and the people I was with all enjoyed theirs. So you have a well executed Light Lager. I think Lancaster did what they set out to do.

Sample, at Lancaster location. Pours a clear dark gold body with a wispy off-white head. Very light nose, just a bit of bready malt and honey. The flavor is rather bland, bready malt with just the lightest touch of hops on the back end. Finishes a little rough and grainy. Light to medium bodied with fizzy prickly carbonation. Not too much going on with this one.

Very similar to mountain lager from ABC, decent lager but just ok. Would drink before buying something from the big guys.

Growler-nice choice Waylo-yikes. What they said - boring. Thin fizzy white head with a weak disposition. I think I hit my character count so I’m done with this.

(USA) Courtesy of AFI96, Thanks Waylo. Pours a lite golden color with a sm-white head. There is a faint hint of grains. The taste is crap !!! watery, metallic, not much else to say. Avoid this brew !!!!

Growler filled from the brewpub. Light gold color with a small head. Not much on the nose. Taste is distant, you need to work to be able to taste anything. Slight fruitiness and some grain. Bleh, boring.

Tap at brewpup: some unexpected fruitiness up front, color somewhat dark, mildly spicy finish, not what I expected from a pale lager. just ok.
