Pours a reddish copper with a off white head that disapates quickly to a thin cover. The smell is of caramel and graininess, along with a light spiciness in the back. The taste is of caramel, grain, slightly nutty, and has a malty character with a touch of spicy hops. Malty sweetness in the finish. Simple and smooth, a nice beer.

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 30, 2009 Nice looking pour - clear copper, medium thick tan head that dissipates. Aroma is dominated by earthy yeast, along with some dough, and underlying hops. Flavor is more robust than the average Oktoberfest which I like. Taste is mostly malt, but the finish has a decent hop bite. One of the better versions that I have had so far this year. kuphish (161), Bloomington, Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 16, 2009 Bottle. Pours an average sized, frothy, off-white head. Clear, amber body. Big, malty, raisiny nose. Lots of dark fruit along with moist, chewy bread and some toast. Worth holding your nose over for a while. Big time malt flavor - dark fruit and chewy caramel. Medium body, lively carbonation. Little big of sugary residue on the tongue, but fairly dry overall. Overall a delicious beer...huge surprise. Don’t understand the overall low ratings for this.
