Commercial Description:
We are proud offer one of the few surviving examples of this traditional English style sweet stout. A bold, dark ale bursting with roasted barley dryness and mellowed by hints of chocolate and coffee.

thinner than I expected with a lack of carbonation---very little taste: in theory makes for a nice drink, but in practice a disappointment

12 oz bottle. Pours dark black with nice tan head. The aroma is quite roasty with some bitter chocolate and prune notes. The flavor has a nice espresso-like roastiness with some bitter chocolate at first. Then an assertive (but not cloying) lactose sweetness fills the mouth. There’s an interesting balance between the sweetness and the somewhat intense sour/bitter of the burnt and roasted elements. The finish is superb: a smooth, semi-sweet espresso. This is pretty tasty.

Wow, there was a lot of flavor going on here! It had a nice creaminess after tasting that thick stout flavor. It was not pure like a regular stout because it has that lactose included. It had a nice dark color like black coffee, but a bit of thickness to it.

Bottled. Poured clear, deep brown with a dusting and a ring of deep tan head sticking around. The aroma picked up a great blend of sweeter milk chocolates with toasty caramel.. sweet and enticing. The flavor was several steps downhill and seemingly past its prime.. sour lactose all over the place with milk chocolate, carmamel, and some nutty notes.. finished sour with drier semi-sweet chocolate. Medium-bodied and too sour on the palate.. drier.. didn’t hold up very well (and it’s not too old).

If you enjoy the full flavor of the Guinness Then you must try this out. It is very close to a Guinness without the bite that is has in the end.

(USA) Pours black with a sm white head. The aroma is of chololate and burnt malts. There is a roasted / smoky malt taste with some chocolate, and coffee notes. The mouthfeel is creamy, but finishes with a slightly dry palate. This is a very pleasant stout from my home turf, good old amish country !!!! lol

Beautiful deep dark dark bown, one shade shy of plack, with a nice light brown thick head that lasts. Aroma is nice, and about what you expect. Roasted nutty and carbon. Feels lighter than it looks, I waned more density to it, but not too thin. Starts with slightly sweet sweet chocolate, with a dark coffee bitterness. Malt and hops are ncely balanced a little towards the malty side. Biterness is there, but not too much bite. FInishes clean. Definitely something that I would buy again.
