The aroma has notes of roasted malt and a light sourness. The flavour has a light sweetness, roasted malt, licorice, coffee and a light sourness, but not nearly as much as in the Keegan Milk Stout. It’s really nice, and the sourness is merely a becoming hint... 2356 can8ianben (911), Pasadena, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 2, 2007 Thick dark and black, has a touch of sour milky flavour but also very deep dark and sweet. You can work this around in your mouth and really get a wonderful complexity. It is very dark and smooth, a delicious dark beer. hellbilly (1566), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 1, 2007 dark reddish almost black pour...sweet malty vanilla nose with notes of wood and coffee. creamy body that gets rather watery as it warms. flavor is chocolate and slightly fake coffee with a pleasant acidity in the middle. as it sits and warms, it gets a strange herbaceous sage flavor and a smell of day old malty beer left in the glass. (did i fall asleep or pass out?) sure goes down easy though... Glazed9884 (207), USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 26, 2007 Pours dark brown and shows some nice ligth sweet notes on the nose. It has the classic weight and creaminess of the cream stout and show roasted coffee along with cocoa. highspire (4), lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA does not count | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 7, 2007 best stout in the county, but only an average one overall. overrated regionally in my opinion. hype machine has kept it popular. lancaster? milk stout? cow on the bottle? cool! uh, erm...
not entirely knocking it. one of their best beers. odd body. little too acidic and a wee bit too bitter. aroma varies a little too much batch to batch. LooseCannon (936), Norfolk, Virginia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 19, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours black in color with small brown head. Sweet aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Taste strong coffee and malt with lite bitter after taste. obguthr (1067), Poquoson, Virginia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 4, 2007 Bacon, smoke, and charred wood aroma. Pours opaque black, with a medium tan head. Taste was smoky ringed with light tartness. Pronounced flavor of coffee with some hops on the palate, which lasted a bit too liong. Robust and distinct.
