Commercial Description:
We are proud offer one of the few surviving examples of this traditional English style sweet stout. A bold, dark ale bursting with roasted barley dryness and mellowed by hints of chocolate and coffee.

Bottle purchased at brewery. Pours in a pecan stream, appearing black in the glass, and sporting an inch of sudsy mocha foam. Rich nutty and milk chocolate aromas apparent from several feet away. More intimate sniffs reveal pipe tobacco, cinnamon, and fresh hop scents. Sweet roasty flavor, Coke and coffee, and a zingy allspice buzz. Mildly bitter roasted barley finish. Medium body with stinging carbonation. Overall, very balanced and drinkale, and the best by far in LBC’s portfolio. Could easily pass for a baltic porter.

Interesting beer and very creamy. It would probably make for a nice fall session beer with a nice cigar.

Deep dark pour with medium head. Sweet, roasty aroma. Taste has plenty of mocha, coffee sweetness with a nice finish. Really smooth and drinkable. Will have again.

Drank with Stegosaurus and Beereded_one at Newton brew fest. This was the best beer they had there from this company. Dark pour with a chocolate aroma. Coffee taste. Not a bad stout.

Cask: Pours a thich creamy black with a nice tan head. The flavor is of dark malts with some coffee and chocolate being present. This is the first time that I have seen this on cask.

Dark brown brew, no see thru, very minute brown head. Aroma of dark fruit, and chocolate. Big bitter flavor with some roasted toffee background. Dry, sweet-bitter finish.

On tap at the brewery. Beautiful dark ruby color, nice head, but doesn’t last long - not a rich foamy head like I expected from a milk stout. Nice roasty aroma, a bit of toffee and coffee and malt, balanced by some nice hops. The only negative was the carbonation - too high for the style. I wonder of the bottled version isn’t better.

Bottle: Dark brownish black, light head, no lacing. Nose of light sesame oil and toast, a bit of maple syrup and nutty peanut/nuttela type of aromas. The flavor is a bit nutty and lightly bittersweet. Not much roast or anything. Moderate body, not creamy or anything though. Eh, a lightly nutty strong brown ale is what this could be.
