| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 12, 2009 Enjoyed from a 12oz bottle in a pub glass. The beer pours a black color, with a light tan head. Mild to moderate carbonation. The aroma brings sweeter than expected notes. A touch of caramel, some other difficult-to-pinpoint sweetness, and some roasted notes come through. The palate is far less acrid and coffee-like in character than most stouts, perhaps benefiting from the lactose addition. The latter isn’t as prevelant as I would have expected, but does add a nice smooth sweetness. Hops don’t really make any kind of appearance in terms of bitterness nor character. The finish is moderate and enjoyable. Overall, a nicely done sweet stout. l1br4r14n (297), Washington, Washington DC, USA

Flavor is huge roasted malt, some milk chocolate, mostly sweet with some lactic sourness. Finish is dry with a lingering roasted malt. ben4321 (1060), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 24, 2009 Location: 12 oz bottle from Gilly’s, 9/24/09
Aroma: Mostly sweet roasted malts with mild coffee & chocolate
Appearance: Dark brown color, fizzy brown head that dissipates quickly
Flavor: Roasted malty flavor, but just a touch thin & one dimensional
Palate: Like the flavor the mouthfeel is a touch thin, light-medium bodied
Overall Impression:
I’ve had this one a few times before, but this is my first time rating it. It is a pretty decent beer, but unfortunately it just isn’t powerful or complex enough to be more then decent. Not a bad beer, just not exciting enough for me to go much higher then this on the score. A drinkable, but hardly memorable stout.

Very creamy and smooth with the sweetness of roasted coffee. Almost no bitterness to speak of. Why is it made in Wilkes-Barre and not Lancaster? frylock (1027), Buffalo, New York, USA
