Aroma of roasted barley backed by some toffee like sweetness. Restrained roasted coffee flavors balanced by a light chocolate sweetness. Nice full bodied creaminess. Finishes with a slightly toasted/smoky character. A pretty solid stout overall.

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Nov 9, 2009 Pitch black in the glass with a small brown head. Smells like dark chocolate and coffee. Feels full in my mouth, no overhwelming flavor. Everything is nicely balanced. Coffee notes in the finish are very nice. Deep, but also a very refreshing beer. Slight soy notes. Wonderful for any time. Homebrewerguy (284), Oil City, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 21, 2009 On tap at SPTR poured into a pint glass. Nice thick head on this sucker; can’t remember if there was lacing. Smell is of mild coffee and chocolate; some alcohol, but not much. Taste is of milk chocolate. By that I mean that it’s a sweet (for a stout) taste with chocolate malt undertones. Coffee was also present. Very smooth beer but not creamy due to the fact that it was well carbonated and not quite thick enought to be considered creamy. Overall a good beer. I had this once a long time ago in bottles and it wasn’t nearly as good. I hope that my bottle experience was just a bad batch. Not one of the best stouts out there but, especially if you like sweet stouts, worth a drink. JediMindTricks (240), Hampton, Virginia, USA
