Commercial Description:
This smooth brew ushers in Autumn with an invitingly tawny color complemented by an assertive maltiness. A noble crispness from German and Czech hops completes this very traditional lager-style beer.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Gilly’s 9/10/09

Aroma: Mostly malty aroma, caramel, some toasty grains, and just a bit of funky fruit
Appearance: A clear amber color, minimal head
Flavor: Malty sweet up-front, more bittersweet and funky in the later palate, and a little spice in the finish
Palate: Medium bodied beer, crisp mouthfeel, long duration
Overall Impression: This was actually a pretty decent Oktoberfest, and I found that as it warmed just a touch the nose improved. At first it was lacking in complexity, but opened up a bit as it went from the fridge coolness to just cool. A nice beer.

This poured an orange color with a white head. The aroma was mild and malty nothin special. Flavor was slightly malty, some nuts and sweetness.

Average beer in every sense. Amber with a small head. aroma of bread. Malty sweet flavor with a hint of hops. Finishes well.

Bottle. Pours a dark coppery amber with a pretty decent, thick head of beige foam. Aromas are sweet, heavy and sticky with a pretty good amount of herbal earthiness to them. Flavor is decent enough, heavily malty with honey and caramel coming through strongly and finish is a bit nutty and earthy. This is OK stuff, but the nutty/earthy undertones seem a little distant from some of my favorites for the style.

Some O-fest beers come across as grainy to me but this did not have that aspect to it. It is malty and sweet with little hoppiness but very smooth and well-done for an O-fest. Very enjoyable and sessionable.

Imperial pint draft at the brewpub. Who knows why an Oktoberfest is on in early May, must be made year round. Filtered brown-amber color. Fluffy head. Clean, fresh aroma. Smooth, with some Amber malt tones. Middle of the road taste-wise. Freshness helps, but it lacks the subtleties of a German Marzen. Deliciously average.

Bottle. Pours a mahogany body with a thin off white lacing. Sweet caramel malt, nutty, with lager notes. Light caramel and toasted malt. Simple with a light bitterness. Junk.

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear brown body with little to no head. The aroma is sweet, the taste is sweet, malty and caramel flavor.
