Commercial Description:
This smooth brew ushers in Autumn with an invitingly tawny color complemented by an assertive maltiness. A noble crispness from German and Czech hops completes this very traditional lager-style beer.

Light golden coloured body with a large white head (more to come later). Aroma of skunky malt, stale hops and very little else. Light-bodied; Sharp taste of foul and stale cardboardie malt with some light spices and a bit of cheese thrown in. Aftertaste shows more of the same - bad stuff. Overall, a pretty bad beer...that isn’t even considering how I drank it: the carbonation in this one exploded the top, forcing bubbles and everything else out of the cap - not a good way to drink it and not a good beer at all! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased at Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 18-November-2007.

12 oz bottle purchased at Spirits. Pours a deep orangey/reddish/amber with a good size off white head. Aroma is how shall I say this......crappy? Smells like mildew, dust and really old cheese. Thin body with not much carbonation. Flavor seems to be......missing. One step up from a drain pour....perhaps an oops I spilled it down the drain.

On tap at the brewery. Aroma and flavor were both very malty, with a bit of spice. Mouthfeel was thin, a bit watery. Not bad, but I will probably not get this one again, given the other, better choices.

12oz bottle, 2007 version. Dark rusty orange color, clear. Bad nose of soggy wheat bread, corn, and some sweaty dog food scents. Surprisingly, it doesn’t taste so bad, with some chewy and semi-sweet caramel and woody maple malt flavors. Thin, kind of boring, but other than the smell it’s okay.

12 oz. Bottle: Aroma of malts, sourdough, nuts, grain, and a tiny bit of spice. Poured copper in color with a med-sized, fizzy, off-white head that diminished. Clear. Sparkling. Flavor is neither sweet nor bitter. Tastes very malty with notes of sourdough, noble hops, nuts and salt. Light to medium body. Thin texture. Average carbonation. Malty, salty finish. Kind of a weak Oktoberfest, especially in the body.
