Malty...Awesome copper/gold color, good head. Very well crafted with excellent balance between the chewy maltiness and the refreshing german & czech hops. EithCubes (2176), Indiana, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 13, 2009 Bottle. Yeast-suspension in the amber/copper body, dark for an Oktoberfest beer. Sudsy beige head. Nose has some nice toast and form chocolate, subtle cookie dough and rich malt. Just an awesome nose! And, as J. says, one to enjoy for a long time. Taste is lightly tart, all the above flavors with some stale carbonation, but the big surprise here is the dryness. Cracker and faint scratchy pretzel with a little pepper in the finish. Medium body with layers of malt to sift through - very rich, very filling, very good. Kinz (2221), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 31, 2005 Cask at Capital Ale House. Medium to darm amber, lovely tan head with just a sheet of lace. Slightly bitter dirt aroma. Caramel malt, oddly bitter earthen finish, very light floral note as well. Ultimately couldn’t get into the sort of gritty dirt hop flavor this seemed to possess. Interesting htough. kuphish (161), Bloomington, Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 16, 2009 Bottle. Pours an average sized, frothy, off-white head. Clear, amber body. Big, malty, raisiny nose. Lots of dark fruit along with moist, chewy bread and some toast. Worth holding your nose over for a while. Big time malt flavor - dark fruit and chewy caramel. Medium body, lively carbonation. Little big of sugary residue on the tongue, but fairly dry overall. Overall a delicious beer...huge surprise. Don’t understand the overall low ratings for this. nuplastikk (1255), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 5, 2009 Imperial pint draft at the brewpub. Who knows why an Oktoberfest is on in early May, must be made year round. Filtered brown-amber color. Fluffy head. Clean, fresh aroma. Smooth, with some Amber malt tones. Middle of the road taste-wise. Freshness helps, but it lacks the subtleties of a German Marzen. Deliciously average. Cletus (5060), Connecticut, USA

Smells of light spice and caramel. Tastes sweet and caramelly with a touch of roses, some earthy hints and a spicy finish. tbookman (618), Ephrata, Pennsylvania, USA
