Aroma - mostly pine and resin. Taste - bitter, dry and noit much hoppiness. Mouthfeel - dry. Ok as an IPA, ut not something I would go our of my way to drink or find. scraff (1955), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jun 23, 2008 Clear sparkling orange, thin creamy white head. Butterscotch floral aromas warm to a dry yeasty caramel tone. Dried fruity rye flavors balance on notes of sweet caramel grains. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry finish. It’s decent, but I won’t be returning... jcwattsrugger (5573), Florida and, New Jersey, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 14, 2008 12oz bottle-pours a foamy white head and amber color. Aroma is grain-caramelized, rye, some musty. Taste is somewhat sweet rye malt bomb and dryness which balances nicely. Slight amount of bittering hops, maybe some spicy hops. Mild carbonation. | 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Jun 13, 2008 Beer pours golden yellow, very little head which after a short period of time was gone completely. Aroma of diacetyl. A buttery mess over caramel and grain (rye). Some hop bitterness was present. Really didn’t taste good at all but was tolerable with tacos with a lot of hotsauce. Oily mouthfeel. Not real good...if this beer is "rare", it isn’t rare enough. dkachur (2420), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Jun 9, 2008 Bottle from Market Street Wine Shop Downtown in Charlottesville. Yet another underwhelming Lancaster offering. Amber color with a 2-finger head and good lacing. Fruity caramel aroma with a touch of rye. Pretty much the same in the taste. Rye is extremely subtle, and the beer overall is bland and a little watery. jehoey (766), Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 6, 2008 Deeper shade of amber with a small head and modest lacing. Subdued, caramel malt aroma with a hint of soft fruit easing its way in. The rye comes across as lightly toasted and grainy, but also serves as a crisp, dry palate cleanser. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and nicely carbonated. Finish lingered and provided another touch of the rye flavor. dmac (1500), Toms River, New Jersey, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 5, 2008 12 oz bottle from Oak Tree. Pours a rather good looking rusty orange with a large frothy bubbly off white head. Aroma on this one is meh....chalky, dusty, musty, old cellar and cooked vegatables. Flavor is much better then the aroma with some initial hop bitterness and some fruity sweetness with caramel malts and a very very slight touch of rye on the aftertaste. Medium to slightly full bodied with average carbonation. Although not great it’s rather drinkable for a Lancaster beer.
