Commercial Description:
Our classic Olde Ale redefines the term "bull-bodied" with its deliverance of complex and firm malt flavor. A fine blend of British and American hops provides an even bitterness as this beer finishes with a warming alcohol flavor.

I am not a big fan of this brewer. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a small tan head. The aroma is dry chocolate and light fruits. The flavor is dry chocolate with a hint of fruits and a thick malty middle The finish is tangy.

Courtesy of jjpm74 <P> Caramel malt, spice and bread pudding make up the aroma of this beer. Dark amber in color with a thim white wisp of a head. Fore is toffee, caramel malt, something tart and slightly metallic in there as well..can’t pin it down, but it isn’s a positive. Definitely some sharp spices in there...ginger and clove, but maybe not nutmeg or if there is not very much. The alcohol is very well hidden for 9% tot he point that I am fairly amazed because I can’t taste it. Tasty, but it could benefit from some more concentrated spice int he finish that is basically just a sweet caramel malt affair right now.

"Poured a dark brown with a small head which didn’t last long at all. Aroma was of spices and malts and alcohol. Flavor was roasted malts cinnamon and a little chocholate."

Draft. Light aromas of cream, chocolate malt and slight fruit-and-spice. A good balance of hops and malts on the palate. Lots of body and a smooth, rich texture. Not as much spice on the palate, but back-to-basics beer ingredients that really shine. A decent ale that runs the risk of being plain, but gets away with it.

Light chocolate toffee aroma with licorice, Tootsie Roll. Mild fruity hops and some metallic tang. Carbonic gaseousness that mars notes of ginger and clove. Dark brown clear with thin foamy off-white, tannish lacing head. Medium bodied, watery, with medium carbonation and carbonic tingle. Starts with roasted maltiness that imparts a bit of sweetness. That’s quickly overcome by subtle spicy dryness that gets drier and more bitter. Ginger and clove, mild fudge. Dusty hops and muted graininess. Light watery finish with decent bitterness. Not as flavorful and spicy as I’d hoped, but they make a decent stab at it.

a nice dark high alcohol balanced malty hoppy brew as a winter warmer or christmas/celebration beer should be. It warms Jine in the winter, which is its main function, so well done, who let the ducks in, who who who who who.

Very brown. Off-white head that poorly clings to the sides like Pauly Shore to celebrity. Decent winter warmer, it’s winter and I’m warmed like a cowboy by a lit fire.
