Aroma is carmel, and bitter dark chocolate. The tase is chocolate, and a bit hoppy. A bit bitter for my liking in a Winter Brew. Like an earlier post said, one or two of these is enough for me. Smells of molasses and caramel. Taste is of maple syrup, some light chocolate elements and tarte fruit. Mouthfeel is thick, but the finish is light and disappointing. mephisto (1144), Taiwan

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 11, 2005 Bottle via trade with Dickinsonbeer. Pours a clear, dark caramel color. Very bubbly but retains no head. Fruity aroma with some notes of dust and honey. Thick mouth feel but the taste is a bit watery. Malty with some dark fruits and a big hoppy bitterness. I drank this far too young. TomDecapolis (3194), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 6, 2005 Pours a hazy dark brown with an average light tan head that laced down the glass. Aroma of caramel and raisins (lots of em’). Flavor is roasted malts, raisins, dark chocolate slight coffee. Someone else on here compared it to their Milk Stout and I can see why now. Almost a mix between a stoudt and a doppelbock. Alcohol is well hidden for a 9% brew. I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect of this when I picked it up but I enjoyed it. Want to get back to the brewery to try this one on tap this winter. snowveil (7), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA does not count | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 1, 2005 sweet sweet sweet. This brew is a dark, rusty brown color. The aroma is awesome, if not a bit overwhelming. It smells like caramel to me, and tastes like it too. Seems like it’s overly sweet to cover for the high alcohol content. I can’t drink more than one of these at a time. hershiser2 (914), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 25, 2005 Bottle. Dark brown with a nice-sized head. Aromas of milk chocolate... almost smells like chocolate milk- with hints of raisens and licorice. The flavor is full of rich deep chocolates, coffees, and a hint of caramel. Reminds me a bit of the Milk Stout, which I happen to love. VA Homebrewer (525), Portsmouth, Virginia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 19, 2005 Dark chestnut color, slight head. Roasted malt and coffee aromas with background hops and alcohol notes. Moderate body. OK, but not their best effort.
