| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/20 | Jan 5, 2008 Whew! This years batch is a bit rough huh? Tastes like I’m drinking straight molasses. Super syrupy and sweet with no balance or depth of character. I loved the past few years though. In fact, I cracked a 2005 just a few weeks ago and it was marvelous. But this one, I’ll skip. dancatts (91), Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Dec 17, 2007 This is a good winter style brew. Nice and dark brown with a small head. Had a smooth caramel flavor that had slight bitterness to finish. Alcohol was very nicely masked, but evident. cheapdark (2047), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 1/5 | 8/20 | Dec 14, 2007 No obtruse initial odor. Shadowy rootbeer appearance. Rather flat. Taste engenders alt at first but builds an alky knot and woody seasoned spices. Smooth but that alky keeps peeking out. Each slug has a coating syrup back of throat effect. Not quite as good as Breckenridge Autumn Ale. clueo (112), Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 13, 2007 Pours a dark amber color with a small quickly disapating head. The smell of plum and spice are evident. A nice fruity taste with a smooth finish. A nice drinkable Winter Ale. dpjuart (670), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Dec 10, 2007 12 oz. bottle. Pours a dark red/amber color with a fizzy, quickly disapating head, like a pop. Malty and fruity nose with a touch of fruitiness, cherry, raisin and plum. Taste is sweet, carmel and and brown sugar, with a some molasses, and then fruity with cherry, raisin and plum. A subtle bitterness at the end. Honestly, pretty good. Nothing over the top good, as its lacking in a few areas (mouthfeel, carbonation is a bit soda-like). A touch of astringency at then end, nothing crazy, though. Middle of the road, drinkable, but that’s about it. hophead75 (1964), Boonton, New Jersey, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 10, 2007 12 oz bottle. Dark brown in color with some ruby highlights at the bottom of the glass. Aroma is very malty with caramel, toffee, brown sugar and some raisins/dark fruits. Taste is moderately sweet and very malty- caramel/molasses, brown sugar, raisins and figs. Body is big not overwhelming in any way. Mild notes of alcohol in the aroma and taste, but still kept in check very nicely. alexanderj (2280), Chino Hills, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 8, 2007 Bottle; poured a reddish brown with small off white head. Aroma was very malty; caramel, roasted malt, fruit and molasses. Flavor was very similar to the aroma. Palate was close to being watery. Didn’t seem to me to be a winter warmer. Flavor was just ok. A drinkable, but largely average brew. mwelsh13 (483), Maryland, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 7, 2007 Poured in pint glass with little head and a bit of lacing, Bit of caramel and molasses in aroma. Deep garnet, brown color. Thin mouth feel with a good amount of malty sweetness. Little hops bitterness noted. Slight alcohol at the end. Little disappointed from the makers of Hop Hog. Did not seem to match the Winter Warmer on the label.
