Nose is bready and yeasty with some fuity hops and toffee as it warms. Flavor is generally sweet, caramel malts nicely balanced with bitter hops and just a touch of spice (nutmeg?). Body is a bit light and slightly syrupy. Wow - surprised to see this is 9%; quite well hidden. Fairly true to style and a solid winter seasonal old ale, although the thin body limited my enjoyment. goldtwins (4084), Nesconset, New York, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 11, 2007 Rich Brown with Red Hues...Light Sandy Ring. Rich Syrapy Caramel, Fruit and Spices on the Nose... Mouthfeel is Oxidized...and a Bit Light... A Biting bitterness on the Back of the Tongue... Alcohol is Subtle.. Bready Malt Notes...Toasted...Caramel/Toffee...Fruit...and Lightly Spiced. This Was Probably a Bad Bottle...But From What Can Be Tasted...on a Better Day, This is Probably a Nice Winter Warmer.
