Ungstrup (11378), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 4, 2007 Draft at GBBF 2006. An orange beer with no head. The aroma is sweet hoppy and fruity. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of alcohol, and some caramel. The alcohol burns in the throat. Too simple for me - a Heller Bock can be so much better. omhper (10728), Stockholm, Sweden Feb 28, 2006 Updated: Apr 20, 2006Bottled. Clear golden, creamy head. Aroma of sugar and buttery malt. Very sweet and very soft with near full body. There’s some grassy hops and some alcohol, medium bitterness. Too sweet to be balanced. duff (5407), Sydney, Australia, Surrey, England Apr 1, 2008 Bottle@Lucky Pierre’s pre tasting tasting. This was pretty bland and showed a lot of raw alcohol in the aroma and the flavour. Sweet pale malt notes and rubery/metallic alcohol. harrisoni (5359), Ashford, Kent, England Aug 22, 2006 Draught at GBBF 2006. Gold with thin white head. Slightly smokey aroma, bit of pukey malt. Fine in mouth, if a bit too carbonated. Alcohol is present. Bit too strong and crude to be pleasant. bierkoning (4933), La Tropica, Netherlands Mar 6, 2006 Deep golden color. Found on the shelves of the Wijn en Bierboetiek next to Erotikbier from the same brewery. Popes and erotik do go together in some ways... Malty flavor with some distant hops. Peach, hazelnuts. Low on aroma. The firm body of this beer almost hides the alcohol. Hopbitter aftertaste. This beer is not an exponent of the rich Roman Catholic life, I fear.
