Now I’m confused. At the festival this was listed as Lang Creek Glacier Pilot (98), refering to the vintage. If the 98 is part of the name, that helps explain some of my notes. I wrote: For something from 98, there’s no oxidation, and overall it’s still lighty hoppy with a sweet honey, brown sugar and toffee flavor mixture. Medium thickness, help up very well, slightly spicy with some Belgian yeast spice qualities. If this is not a 98 vintage, then that explains the hops and lack of age noticed. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 19, 2007 Bottle: Mahogany color, ruby edges, light head and lacing. Nose of bright malt, caramel and light diacetyl, some special b and earthy hops; light alcohol. The flavor is chewy, nice resinous pine hop notes along with the caramel and melanoidin overload. Excellent balance for a winter beer. Tasty malts, full hops, yum. bhensonb (4371), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 18, 2008 Bottle from John’s Marketplace in Portland, OR. Beautiful mahogany color with a multi-finger beige/tan head. Aroma of resin backed by citrus. Near full bodied with vigorous, near creamy carbonation. Flavor is quite resiny, backed by heavy caramel, finishing balanced, evergreeny, and mouthsmacking. Just excellent. Makes me think of gin. Skyview (4090), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 11, 2008 Received a 12-oz bottle via trade with 5000. Pours a semi-hazy dark copper brew with a thin, creamy beige head that has some good retention and lacing. Aroma of mostly roasted caramel malt, a touch of cheery, citrus and some toffee. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonation with flavors of caramel/toffee character, some sour apple, tart berries and a touch of citrus. Finish has a slight iced tea aftertaste with a lingering mild hop bitterness. Quite nice!
