Bier brauen (157), Bremerton, Washington, USA Nov 23, 2007 I enjoyed this beer. Had it on tap. Nice aroma. good taste. It is an imperial ale. It’s kind of like a pale ale on steroids. When one rater said it’s like an IPA, I can inderstand that. Keep brewing this beer. It’s very good. Sweet, hoppy, flavorful, and good mouthfeel. Oakes (7047), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jun 19, 2007 Hazy blonde colour. Fruity-grassy hop nose seems more IPA than anything continental. Fresh hoppy taste with a hint of grassiness. Quenching and balanced, a bit deceptive in terms of its potency. Nice brew. DrBayern (1014), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA Jul 14, 2007 Draft at the Applewood Grille in Wenatchee, WA. I’ve never really understood the concept of an Imperial Pilsner. It seems to be almost a contradiction, kicking up the malt to increase the ABV of a style that is meant to be refreshing with a clean palate.
That being said, this is actually pretty good, although calling it a Pilsner is a stretch. Cloudy yellow, which I think detracts some for this style, but a nice creamy lasting head and nice lace. Faintly floral aroma with hints of lemon and some biscuity graininess as well. Medium body and carbonation, with some stickiness on the palate. The honey like flavor that presents initially is well balnced by a quickly risng hoppy bitterness. Finishes with citrus type dryness. All in all, a pretty decent beer, but not something I would call a Pils, even remotely. kyzr (1010), Belgrade, Montana, USA Sep 22, 2007 Slight hazy and golden with white head. Nose of hops and grain. Flavor is grainy up front with touch of sweetness to it. Finish is were the hops really come out. Slight carbination, yet on the end it is really dry. BückDich (4618), Boise, Idaho, USA Feb 11, 2007 Draft @ Strange Brewfest 07: Pours a pale gold color, nice head and good lacing. The nose is citrusy and grassy with a nice hoppy balance. The body is strong and puffy. Nice imperial pilsner.
