excellent huckleberry aroma and flavor but the fruit overrides the beer. It is a fine balance and I almost always wish that fruit beers were more fruity but this one is too fruity. light hopping and it does leave a very pleasant aftertaste. It definitely does not remind ME of champagne!

Bottled. Pours a hazy pale straw color with almost no head. The aroma is dominated by blueberries (huckleberries?) with a dash of oranges and toffee behind it. The body is light, watery, with prickly champagne carbonation. The taste is almost non-existent compared to the nose, but berries, honey show up before the dry and lightly tart finish. My hat’s off to the Montana brewers for trying to take advantage of local flavors, but this one doesn’t work all that well for me.

Cloudy, wine like body w. a filmy foam head. Pretty unique huckleberry aroma w. dank notes. The flavor is fruity w. a sour finish that is mildly unpleasant.

Slighty hazy pale staw. Aroma smells like some sort of fruity kids drink. Flavour is absolutely disgusting. One of the worst beers I’ve ever had.

(12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with Larry Pitonka, thanks André!) Outside of Huckleberry Finn and Huckleberry Hound, this is my first exposure to the world of the huckleberry. I had to read about the fruit and learned that the wild huckleberry has an intense blueberry flavor, but is more tart. And yes, that is exactly what we have here in this beer. The base malt is very light, and that has allowed the brewer to showcase the fruit. Indeed, it does taste like blueberries, and it’s not one of those nasty artificial plastic tasting flavors either. The tartness is evident, but the slight honey does balance out the tartness without covering it up. Unfortunately, the limited flavor tends to disappear after a few seconds for a really weak finish. Tart berry aroma is complemented by the mild sweet honey. Light bodied for sure, kind of watery in the finish, but the light carbonation makes for a gentle mouthfeel. Pale straw in color, with a moderate haziness, allowing the half dozen streams of tiny carbonation bubbles to be visible. The small white head settles to a small ring, leaving only one small patch of lace on the glass. Certainly not the most flavorful of fruit beers, but the flavor is quite pleasant overall. It’s just a really light beer, like huckleberry flavored sparkling water.

Straw yellow color, lightly misty, retentive pale yellow head, moderate lacing and very balanced carbonation. The nose is sweet with some berryness and an off wheatish note that really steals the spotlight and ruins the show, this had some promise from the berries. The flavor is lightly sweet, almost no hops and a creamy mouthfeel. Watery body and almost no aftertaste. A decent fruit beer but it stumbles in several areas.
