Commercial Description:
Pandan Ale represents a major advancement in Asian style beers. It is a complex brown ale brewed with crystal, chocolate, and honey malts. We have also given it a Southeast Asian flair by adding palm sugar and pandan , a nutty and fragrant leaf. Pandan, also known as bai toey (Thai) and lá dua (Vietnamese), is considered an essential ingredient to Southeast Asian rice dishes and cakes. This is a truly unique and flavorful beer that you will enjoy. Pandan Ale is a dark, full-bodied beer that will complement spicy Thai and Indian curries, as well as savory Filipino and Indonesian stews.

Bottle: Dark brown color, nice light head and decent lacing. Nose of bright nutty toasty bread, super melanoidins to the rescue, holy crap this is nutty and toasty. Almost more toasty than toast! Pandan?! Holy shit, I want some for brewing. The flavor has a nice full body, more nutty accents. A decent finish. Wow, that nose is spectacular for a brown ale. So nutty, so good!

A very odd aroma that is stangly familiar but i just cant put my finger on what it is. Aight brown pur with an off white head and lace. A very bland flat flavor that just lacks any pizazzaz. No off flavors just nothing at all special about this beer. A tad thin and watery. A drinkable beer but nothing special at all.

Thanks to Brewdad for a crack at this. Poured a dark brown (duh). Nice malty sweet nose. Flavor is nutty, little bit of chocolate and some spice (pandan?). Fairly straight forward, but definitely one of the better brown ales I have had.

Appearance: Pours a clearish, dark brown body with a small, wispy, off-white head. Smell: Mild aroma of dark malts, chocolate, and discarded nut shells. Taste: Dark malts rounded out by a sweet nutty character. A few well-placed drops of chocolate. Vague dark fruitiness. Lightly spicy, earthy bitterness. Then, it’s back to the nuts, baby! Sweetish finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: I’ve been waiting for so many long years for a pandan beer the hit the market, and Laughing Buddha really delivered!

22 oz. bottle - opaque brown with off-white head; sweet and grainy aromas; medium body and very sweet; pandan addition is very interesting and gives it a leafy/grainy feel; slight caramel flavors and a fruity kick; definitely on the sweet side of brown ales and one i need to be in the right mood for

A dark brown appearance with a beige head. The aroma contains some caramel and nutmeg. A huge herbal presence, the pandan? Who knows. The flavor is also herbal and has a cola like flavor. A strong nutty presence with this one. Overall it was different for sure but pretty good.
