Cloudy dark golden with tall, lasting, creamy white head that sheets. Great looking beer. Sweet, floral, and citrus hoppy with doughy malts that remind me of pasta(?). Weird reminders of fresh peas and canned fruit salad. Interesting and fruity up front, but over the middle of the body it’s all grapefruit pith and it never wanes. Astringency at the finish is a bit much, dirty, yeasty, fruit skins, tobacco. It has an overall numbing effect that detriments even from tasting subsequent sips. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 4, 2009 BOMBER served very cold. Pours a golden orange body with a thick creamy wit head. Great aroma. Spicy sharp hop resins lighter citrus and pine needles. A hint of honey and some grapefruit. Bitter grapefruit and an almost acidic bite to it. Overwhelming hop characteristics mast any malt to this one whatsoever, good call if you ask me. I hope i can taste the rest of the beers i’m trying tonight. Good stuff. 3.9
Actually as this warms it gets more soapy so ill have to knock a few off. 3.7 MrBendo (1043), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 4, 2009 Bomber. Hazy orange/amber color with a large, foamy head. Good lacing. Aroma of tropical fruits, citrus and a fair amount of malty sweetness. Mostly sweet taste with a bitter finish. A little yeast near the end of the bottle. Hop profile seems a bit one-dimensional, even for an IIPA. ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 3, 2009 Fresh bottle. Bottle conditioned? Looks like it. Hazy honey colored body. Nose of sugared c-note hops: salty, crystalline and fresh citrus orange, pineapple and mango with a musty touch of kind bud. Dried apricot and slightly over-sweet pineapple juice hit the tongue. A clean pour yields a slightly harsh texture but with a small amount of yeast mixed in it settles more frothy and creamy. Still has a faint twinge of sugar/corn syrup in the finish, but overall it’s definitely a nice beer. Glad to see Laughing Dog has improved on or even solved the bottle infection issues. Pours out a pretty golden color with a medium sized white head that fades quickly. Big aroma of citrus hops with a strange nuttiness and some dried fruit. Citrus hops dominate the early flavor, but it fades to some sweet malt and the finish has a nice brisk pine hop feel. Very tasty IPA, glad I discovered this one. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 29, 2009 bomber. Lightly hazy golden/light orange in color with a lasting off white head, nice lacing. Intense aroma of fresh, juicy citrus hops- grapefruit, mango, some earthy resin, touches of pale malts in the back. Taste: not quite as intense as the aroma, but still pretty nice. Hoppy with citrus, pine, some light earth, and touches of tropical fruit. Some light pale malts, overall dry for the style, good lingering bitterness in the finish.
