Skyview (2933), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA May 11, 2008 Received a 12-oz bottle via trade with 5000. Pours a clear dark copper/brown brew with a thin beige head that has some nice retention and some spotty lacing. Aroma of malted chocolate milk balls, caramel, figs and a touch of butterscotch. Taste is medium to full bodied, a touch of carbonation with flavors of mild bitter caramel, toffee, roasted dark figs and a touch of butterscotch. Finish is semi sweet at first and then a nice citrus bitterness kicks in with a mild fig aftertaste. Allow this to warm up a little before drinking.
jdp (54), Texas, USA Aug 13, 2008 Draft @ the Laughing Dog Brewery. They still had some on draft in late June/early July. Pours dark brown and has a nice creamy tan head. Nice roasted malt smell and slight smell of piney hops. Malt has a nice roasted sweet flavor adding in some fig towards the end. Decent hop finish but to me this more malty than hoppy though it is not weak in hops. Good winter style beer that could be a weaker barley style wine. robforbes (752), Bremerton, Washington, USA Jul 11, 2008 pours a brown-mahogany with a tan head, good lacing.
