Pours a slightly hazy deep amber color with a small lasting off white head. The aroma is big sweet malt paired with a basket of fruits. More barleywine in nature. The flavor also leans more toward other styles with rich caramel, sweet brown sugar, and fruits dominating the palate. there is some bitterness toward the end, but not overpowering to the sweetness. Full bodied. I enjoyed this quite a bit regardless of where it is classified. badbeer (433), Iowa, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 12, 2008 Bottle from after4ever, thanks! Copper color with a white head that left a little bit of lacing. This is one of the maltier IIPA’s I’ve had. A lot of sweet malt in the aroma, but thankfully there still is some dank, resinous hops showing up in there too. Taste is the same thing, plenty of sweet caramel which is battling citrusy hops for dominance. Full bodied with medium carbonation; sticks to the tongue quite a bit, a bit cloying. Decent beer. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 6, 2008 22 oz. bottle, from Moejuck - thanks! Pours hazy dark amber-mahogany color, with no head to speak of. Rich malty notes dominate the aroma, ripe fruit, light brown sugar and maple hints, with floral and gently citrus hops also evident. Flavor features rich fruity and caramel malts, some earthy notes, hops more pronounced with some pineyness, as well as floral and citrus rind, alcohol becomes more noticible as it warms. Full body and barely discernable carbonation. This treads the line between an IIPA and a hoppy barleywine. 00cobraR (1098), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA

Flavor was rather malty with a bit of hops to it. I liked this one but it left me looking for something more. over all this is certainly not a bad beer by any means ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 1, 2008 Bottle from Sean, thanks rim jobber. Pours out a dark brown to reddish color with a off yellow head on it. Smells plenty hoppy, full of malts and caramel sweetness. Taste is slightly bitter, rich and smooth. Pretty much a sipping double IPA, but its worth trying. First sampling of any beer from Idaho. I would drink it again, but I suspect it would be very hard for me to get this beer again. Thanks Sean. franksnbeans (265), Columbus, Maryland, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Dec 23, 2007 Pours out a lively caramel color with a finger of tan head that dies quick to a ring. Spotty lacing. Smells of sweet malt, caramel and iced tea. Taste is big malty and tea like. Hops are missing for me. Finish is bittering but not hoppy. Full in the mouth. Takes some sipping. Falls very short for a DIPA. If I drink something with IPA in the name, I want some damn hops. I suspect this isnt even close to fresh.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 15, 2007 Bottle sampled. Pours a deep amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel, pine, earthy hops and some citrus. Well balanced and rich flavor of caramel malts, piney hops, brown sugar, citrus notes and a hint of grapefruit with a nice bittersweet finish Indra (2029), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 27, 2007 22oz. bottle. Aroma is dense and complex, with notes in varying degrees of caramel and brown sugar, dried apricot, white grape, red apple, orange, grapefruit, pine, tea and dried flowers, along with some fresh hop spice and doughy yeast. Hazy dark amber color, bottle-conditioned, with a thin, celestial head and lace pattern. Flavor profile is actually fairly well-balanced, with very generous proportions of malt and hop throughout, with a sweet, toffeeish influx up front, becoming fruitier and spicier before a hugely bitter, citric, earthy, lightly alcoholic and piney finish. Thick, almost coating mouthfeel, really seems to go on forever due to the massive body being utterly infused with hop resins. Gently warming, felt late on the back of the throat. One of those that treads the line between Imperial IPA and really hoppy Barleywine. Highly flavorful and seems to strike a good balance between the hops and malt, between brute force and delicacy.
