| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 14, 2008 Courtesy dchmela. Orange-copper pour, sparse off-white head. Light citric hop aroma, pineapple, also some earthy malts backing. Moderately aggressive peppery hop taste, lot of pineapple, alcohol stays out of the way. Surprised by this one. tronraner (1934), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 13, 2008 Bomber. Pours orange copper with thin, sticky beige head. The aroma is lemon, lime, pineapple, a little bit of fig, some alcohol and biscuit. The flavor is sharp lemony hops with some pretty strong caramel malt sweetness. There’s an aggressive, but even, woody bitterness throughout. Pretty good, but quite a bit maltier than I like my IIPAs. Alcohol is dangerously well-masked, though. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 8, 2008 Thanks to Juancho. Drank it in Panajachel, Guatemala. Really Good. Pours an orange cloudy color with a nice white head. Medium bodied, well balanced, delicious hops, long ending. shigadeyo (2263), Harrison, Ohio, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 7, 2008 8/07/2008: Devil Dog Imperial India Pale Ale has a clear and shiny copper color with a red hue. A frothy beige crown rests atop the surface. The sheer volume of hops definitely make a bold appearance in the very citrusy (sweet orange peel) and slightly earthy/floral/resin-like aroma. The aroma is sweet with some caramel undertones as is the flavor. However, the flavor also presents a significant level of hop flavors including fresh, leafy moderate floral-quality (Northern Brewer) and a prominent level of orange and peel (Athanium, Simcoe). I was afraid that some of the hoppiness of this beer might have been diminished with the passing time, but I have been proved wrong! This IIPA definitely delivers the hop flavors although the over bitterness seems a bit weak. This is probably due to the substantial malt base (caramel goodness) needed to achieve the elevated ABV. On that front, the alcohol is extremely well-hidden and not to be found in the flavor anywhere! This beer has a medium body and a very clean palate. It delivers what is promised on the label and is surely one puppy that is to be reckoned with!
12 oz bottle (98 IBU’s and with 7 pounds of hops to the barrel; Hops: Columbus, Northern Brewer, Anthanium, Cascade and Simcoe) from illinismitty. Thanks Sean! Rating #103 for this beer...

Pours with an orange body topped by a thick head with some lacing left behind. It’s slightly sweet yet hoppy with light citrus notes and a light hoppiness. Medium bodied, smooth and a touch dry. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 5, 2008 Bottle. Pours amber with nice white head. Very nice hop aroma. Nice malt hop with fruit overtones, hides the alcohol well. BlackDonald (1127), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jul 31, 2008 Pours a golden amber with a fine looking off white head. Amazingly intense hop nose with loads of citrus, orange peel and a rich caramel malt texture. This aroma and palate matches perfectly. A chewy malt backbone you can really sink your teeth into. Loads of citrus and orange peel, luscious caramel candy sweetness. Really evenly structured and well balanced.
