Commercial Description:
I got a brew you can’t refuse. The Dogfather is one of the biggest brew we have ever made, weighing in a 10.85% alcohol. 7 malts and 4 hops give it a complex flavor profile. Over 11 month in the making some of the DogFather has been barrel aged. This is a very limited release with only 40 keg equivalents in draft and only 300 case made.

This black beer poured with a huge foamy light brown head and a chocolate and alcohol aroma. The flavor is very rich dark chocolate and coffee, with a dry alcohol finish.

22 oz bottle. Pours a pitch black body with a large frothy brown head that slowly fell to a dense dollop of creamy head. The nose is deeply roasty with a bit of tar and licorice. Some dark bitter chocolate and noticeable alcohol. The roast is extremely heavy on the flavor and it’s very astringent, which doesn’t work well at all with the heavy handed hoppiness. Combine that with the very prominent alcohol and this just isn’t pleasant at all to drink. Mouthfeel is thick, oily, and heavy, lingering on forever with acrid roastiness. The huge alcohol warmth evokes a strong memory of cough syrup rather than beer. In a word: unpleasant.

22 oz bomber from Market of Choice. Pours out the deepest, darkest black with a massive cocoa colored head. Absolutely beautiful presentation. Aroma is initially all coffee, but as it warms it veers more chocolately and slightly boozy. Very roasted flavor with big coffee and chocolate tastes, especially as it warms. Definite winner and awesome name/label.

Bottle. Pours opaque with a large, creamy, dark brown head, mostly lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (chocolate, toasted grain), average hop (perfume), heavy yeast (leather) with notes of prune, tar, and dates. Full bodied, creamy texture, average carbonation, and a bitter-dry finish. Long duration, moderate sweetness, acidity, and bitterness.

Bottle, courtesy IBrew2or3. Dark black pour, big fizzy bubbly head and thick lacing. Spicy roast in the nose, some caramel, some cocoa and decent heat. Flavor has some chocolate, slight roast, spicy heat, some coffee in the finish. Very bubbly and very carbonated, sharp.
