22oz bottle. Pours black with a small brown head. Aroma is of dark fruit, roasted malt, chocolate, spice, and grain. Taste is of chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla, dark fruit, and alcohol. There is a slight, but nice hop presence underneath all the roasted malt and chocolate. Mouthfeel is thick, but also very buttery and smooth. Alcohol burn is very harsh after each sip. Body is medium and very carbonated. This one came off more like a foreign stout than an imperial stout to me. Not very drinkable, but still a very tasty beer.

Thanks IBrew2or3 for the share. Pours dark black with a khaki head. Nose is alcohol, malt, coffee, cinnamon, spice, chocolate, earth, and some dark fruit. Flavor starts with roasted malt, coffee, and is closely followed by spice, and some sense of dark fruit. Lots of roasty malt character. Medium bodied with coffee bitter in the finish. Yellow laces the glass: Interesting beer.

Bomber courtesy of ditmier. I love the label and the name. Very cool. Pours with a deep dark brown core and with less deep brown edges to go along with a mocha colored head. The aroma is chocolate, some molasses, a bit of roast and coffee. A big draw brings lots of coffee and a sense of booze. Yum. The taste starts with roasty malts that turn toward burnt malts, chocolate malts and molasses. A sense of booze is noticed midway. It gets a bit more molasses like into the finish with coffee notes in tow. Very nice stuff.

Powerfully dark, espresso head, four fingers tall, rising like baked bread falling very very slowly. Simple burnt grain aroma. Strong malt, lots of refreshing west coast hops, no hint of alcohol here. This is much more like what I think of an Imperial Stout to be: Take a stout, dry and malty, and intensify it. It’s about time.

2008 from a 22 oz bottle. What a great beer! Tried it in a tasting with Full Sail Imperial Porter and Pike Entire and it was the clear winner. Coffee and chocolate on the nose with some fruit thrown in for good measure. Nice mouthfeel with espresso and bitter chocolate flavors and slight bitter finish. Excellent!

Bottle shared by MaxxDaddy. Aroma has alcohol, licorice, bitter black malts. Creamy flavor, charcoal, lots of carbonic acid, bitter roast. Tough to drink.

Taster – 2009 Washington Cask Beer Festival- Seattle, WA
Aroma: Huge dark malt aroma with chocolate and coffee lingering.
Appearance: Black in color, clear (if you can see through black) with a thin head.
Flavor: Big Flavor. The Chocolate and coffee comes through this is not your small Impy this grows on you.
Palate: Dry coffee finish, with a good Mouthfeel.
Overall: Great brew this was a tasty brew. I wish I had a few bottles of this to store for the long run.
