Commercial Description:
Another in our series of Imperial IPAs. Colossal, aka number six, is chock-full of Horizon, Brewer’s Gold, Cascade and Columbus hops. This Imperial also adds a bit of balance to the mix with a light load of crystal malts. A slightly sweeter finish also adds to the drinkability of this incredibly hoppy beer. 7.0% ABV 100+ IBUs O.G. 17.2º Plato

(Draft: Laurelwood Public House in Portland, OR) So my impression of Laurelwood is that their standard offerings are about average for the style, nothing spectacular, nothing horrible, and you have to be a fan of the organic flavors. But the seasonals are considerably more impressive, again, not pushing the envelope within the styles, but very flavorful and enjoyable. So, this double IPA is pretty standard for the style, but enjoyable. It’s very hoppy and bitter, moderately sweet, with the maltiness more noticeable in the medium "plus" body than the flavor. Crisp finish from the bitter hops. Orange amber in color, quite cloudy in appearance. The sizeable off-white head slowly recedes to a thin layer, but leaves significant lacing on the glass. Certainly the best of the eight beers I’ve tried here.

Sampled at Rose & Raindrop. Clear amber with a white head. NIce hoppy pine aroma. Flavor consists of pine, grapefruit/citrus and a touch of peach and tropical fruit. Pleasant sweetness, bitter finish. Medium bodied with subtle carbonation.
