Commercial Description:
Even in 1895, Porter was brewed from the mountain spring in Löbau, and it was a beloved drink in the Lausitz. With our Lausitzer Porter, we successfully continue this brewing tradition. Across the land, the legendarily sweet taste of this unique dark beer has found friends among connoisseurs of dark brews.

Bottle. Brown colour, medium head. Taste is very sweet, with some grain notes, but it is totally ruined by the nasty metallic aftertaste. I had no comparison with others of that style, but it was really disappointing (and no, I was not expecting a Baltic porter)

light hoppy aroma, brown, black, clear, brown foam, heavy cloying sweetness, lightly bitter, medium body, slick feel, long finish, too sweet for me

The aromas and flavour are most reminiscent of Frosted Shreddies breakfast cereal. Full of super sweet molasses tough a little thin in the mouth.

Aroma: Over-ripe cherries, yeast, seafoam. They don’t work well together. Taste: Very sweet from beginning to end, complemented by cola. There is simply not much going on here but sweetness....the faintest hint of peach on the finish. Well if you want a glass of light fruit juice then open one of these up! Big disapointment.

Bottle at Aufsturz, Berlin, 21 March 2009. Not very dark. Chestnut colour. Weird stuff. Hardly a porter in any sense I would recognize. Rather too sweet with not much body. Hints of licorice but rather confected with something of a fizzy soft drink feel - not quite Pepsi but something in that vicinity. Sometimes I like weird. On this occasion I just found it rather hard going and borderline unpleasant.

Bottle. Pours a pitted, rocky, beige head. Clear, cola colored body. Super sweet caramel malt and light herbal hop aroma. Ultra sweet flavor. Sugar, cotton candy, cheap chocolate and some metal. Oily, medium body with low carbonation. Lingering, sickly sweet finish. This beer is a train wreck.

500ml bottle. Deep, ruddy brown with a constrasting, tight white head. Sweet caramel and red fruit aroma, with some burnt sugar. Very sweet, almost cola-like flavour, with a syrupy finish. Tailed off badly.

Bottle brown, 330 ml
Appearance: Pours hazy watery and pale orangy brownish slightly reminding burned orange when put against the light. Head is weaker as that found in English Porters, off-white, regular, frothy with a gentle lacing, slightly reminding a watered Dunkel, low gravity and preety flat after a short time in terms of body carbonation.
Aroma: Very gentle aroma of ash and weak cardboardy roast, some paper on top, weak and non-impressive as it lacks the noble type hops and spices, totally no hint of English hops, nor malt, kind of making ones upmanship to try to make a Porter from only German ingredients as the beer has no English accents perceptably. Rather no dark or red fruit accents. It’s a top fermented Schwarzbier for me.
Flavour: A really heavy load of white sugar at the start is attacking your taste buds, to your relief you can feel quite essential, considerably spicy and moderate gravity body with notes of coffee and caramel, some roasty grains are felt on palate and in retro-nasal aroma, front of the tongue stays sticky sweet though not repulsive, where as the back of the tongue becomes more bitter and astringent towards the end mainly due to the hops presence, finish duration is moderate with the impression of heavy body due to the syrupy-sugary consistence.
Palate: Body is medium, texture is syrupy, carbonation on palate is very poor, finish feel is sticky sweet.
