| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 24, 2008 Dark brown, nearly black really, with moderate carbonation generating a surprisingly lively head. Lots of chocolate in the aroma. Medium bodied, chocolate and clay/earthy tones, slightly acidic finish, almost tart. I actually quite liked this, and found it is similar to the London-style old porters. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA

| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Feb 25, 2008 22 oz bottle, via 5000. Pours a very dark brown body with a one inch fizzy dark brown head. A good amount of heavy lacing remained. A lot of visible carbonation going on here. Ouch, the nose is just full on buttery popcorn, with some lighter hints of roast, coffee, and grainy huskiness. The flavor is buttery as well with a slightly sour lactic lingering finish. There’s some hops in there, but they just don’t make much of an impression around all this butter. Long after the finish there’s some chalk and husky barley. Mouthfeel is slick and slightly clingy with moderate fine fizzy carbonation. Overall, this was just not a beer for me. The biggest thing that I hate in a Porter is butter flavors, and this was just a textbook showcase of that. Dubbercody (214), Vancouver, Washington, USA

Dark, dark pour. Nice tan head that sets there a bit like Guinness, about 1/4 inch of fluff. Sour taste, almost too roasted kind of sour tang to it. It’s got some rich roast that shines through the tang.
Thinner body, which works for me. Not a robust porter, of course has it’s time an place, but not at lazy boy.
Interesting beer, the sourness throws me off a bit, thus dropping the overall score. Too bad, I like a good lazy boy, but this one isn’t it for me.
