BückDich (4559), Boise, Idaho, USA Apr 9, 2008 Bottle: Dark black, light tan head and no lacin. Nose of some underripe blueberry, some soy and hop. Lame tart, salty, bad coffee. The flavor is astringent, thin, tart, soy, grass, ozone. Bad. Lots of carbonation. Infected?
IrishBoy (2165), Bakersfield, California, USA Sep 8, 2008 Bomber from Bottleworks; Nose of coffee and chocolate with a light sour (off) note; Black with a big cinnamon tan head; flavor of chocolate, coffee, and light tartness (infection). rkuhnel (1148), Eureka, California, USA Sep 4, 2008 From a 22 oz bottle this poured a jet black with a nice tan head and good lacing. Beautiful in the glass. Nose is of burnt malts, almost like wet burnt wood. Mouthhfeel is medium with quite a bit of carbonation. Flavor is dominated by the burnt wood taste with a little bit of chocolate. Finish is dry. tronraner (1439), Maryville, Tennessee, USA Aug 12, 2008 Bomber. Pours surprisingly dark black with a small tan head. The aroma is roasty-sweet, with some raisin and other dark fruits and a bit of milk chocolate. The flavor is roasted barley and bitter chocolate, but seems very hollow somehow. There’s a slight ashy sourness to the finish that is pretty satisfying, but all in all, it just seems like it’s lacking something. marcus (1058), Sacramento, California, USA Aug 8, 2008 This black ale poured with a nice tan head that gradually dissipated. Unfortunately, it doesn’t taste as good as it looks. The flavor is chocoate malt, but watery with a skunky finish. bhensonb (3017), Woodland, California, USA Jul 30, 2008 Bomber from Bottle Trek. Opaque black color with a decent tan head that stayed awhile. Sort of chocolate roasted malt aroma - not burnt. Medium body with slightly frothy carbonation. Flavor is chocolate, dark roasted malt, and a little coffee. Finish is slightly acid and pretty dry. Lightly puckers the mouth.
