Commercial Description:
True to our pirate roots here along the southern border of Louisiana. The French called the local pirates Jacques, but our Brewster insists on the female spelling Jaque. Amberjaque is a light amber ale made with Pale malts, Rye, and Caramel malts. A wonderful refreshing light bodied ale, it’s the perfect starter beer. The aroma hops provide a hint of spice, but there is no bitterness in this beer. Second only to Southern Pecan as one of our signature beers.

Courtesy of Wohlfs. Pours golden orange with no head. Aroma is nutty with some funky metallic character. Flavor muh the same, almost chlorine-like. Will agree something is just off in this beer.

Bottle: Courtesy of wolhfs. Roasty, nutty, hops, and something else that’s a little funky and throws things off. Pours a cloudy orange with an insignificant white head. Roasty and nutty with a light hop finish. Like the aroma, there’s something in the flavor that’s just off.

Hazy light amber colour. Aroma is sweaty and caramelly. Body is mainly caramelly wiht light doughy notes and a hint of toast from the hops, which seem fuggley. This isn’t made with extract, is it? It has that gasoline-like note and slight underattenuation I had in a lot of my old extract homebrews. Nonetheless, my head’s in Mississippi. Cheers, Jay!

Hazy amber w/ pale tan foam. Fresh, spicy, hoppy aroma w/ a lovely bready, toffee-ish malt background. Soft, creamy feel. Simple, malty flavour w/ a spicy, earthy hoppiness. Clean, quick finish.

Pours orange/light brown with almost no head. Taste is strong spicey hops. Floral aftertaste. Decent for an amber ale, better than I had anticipated. Thanks to Springslicker for this one.

12oz bottle thanks to SpringsLicker for the new state. Has an interesting smell of honey, butter, fuesal scents, and some heavy malt extract syrup. Semi-sweet over the middle, but finishes very putrid, with some burning rubbish or burnt vegetable flavors. Very hard to swallow. The rye is evident, I guess, it seems to be present in a roasted and grainy, sour flavor. Not as bad as some that I’ve had, but difficult to swallow at times.

Strong earthy British hop character, lighter fruity malt character. Neat dark gold brew with creamy top. Biter front, very smooth, good finish with gentle hopping. Interesting beer.

easty, hoppy, bitterness, malt and yeast finish with spice again. Nitro creaminess. Acidic palate. Bit of lace. Yeast at bottom of bottles. Medium mouthfeel. Unusual, Southern experiment. What’s next for this brewery? Thanks JoeyC by way of Aracauna.
