Brigadier (1220), Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA Nov 9, 2009 12 oz bottle
The last of the Mississippi beers from a recent trade this was listed as "Deep South Pale Ale" on the label. Fairly standard for a light lawnmower beer it was not my favorite. Nonetheless it is a slight upgrade from your typical macro so if you happen to be stuck in the south this would not be the worst option.
Aroma / Appearance - Fading fast the pillowy head provided a nice cover for the coppery body underneath. Tame maltiness and a trace amount soap dulled what could have been at least a little crisp.
Flavor / Palate - Iced tea with a squeeze of lemons make this taste like Southern tea minus the pound of sugar. Very palateable and easy going it does not retain much of a finish. Overall this is fairly average and respectable. Maybe some day the caps will be lifted so Lazy Magnolia can try more complex styles. Sparky27 (1559), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Oct 31, 2009 12oz bottle courtesy of TheCheeseMan – thanks Daniel! Pours an overly carbonated hazy gold with a huge 4 finger foamy white head. The nose is wheat, grassy hops and malt. The taste is malt, grain and light citrus hops in the finish. An ok pale. nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Oct 22, 2009 Source:Bottle from Frugal MacDoogals.
Glass:Pint.
Appearance:Gold/amber pour with a thin off white head.
Aroma:Caramel and flowers.
Flavor:Caramel base with a floral hop finish. A hint of metal as well, but not too much to detract.
Palate:Medium/light body with solid carbonation.
Overall:Not too bad, but still just an average beer.
Poobah (101), New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Oct 11, 2009 Sweet malty aroma with golden color and thin head. Malty, well-carbonated mouthfeel with strong hoppiness in the finish and some honey notes. The bitter finish really lingers. bconger (75), Birmingham, Alabama, USA Oct 7, 2009 Bottle. Dark yellow pour with a thin white head. Aromas of rye and nutmeg. Backbone of a typical pale ale with a bit
more of a floral component. A pleasent bitterness on the finish. Pretty good, bit there are quite a few pale ales I like better for the price. curly (548), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Oct 5, 2009 Sampled at the 8th Annual Music City Brewer’s Festival. Pours a clear pale amber with a foamy white head. Aroma is very subtle with wheat, caramel, and orange. Taste is mild orange rind and caramel, very plain though. Medium thin body with light carbonation. MaltOMeal (642), Land of Sugar, Texas, USA Sep 17, 2009 bottle thanks to jazzbassman. Pours a clear amber with a white head. Nose is of nuts, grain and honey.
