Commercial Description:
Lazy Magnolia Brewing Company of Kiln, Mississippi is proud to announce the introduction of Reb Ale to the Oxford, MS, market. Appropriately named, Reb Ale is a Wheat Pale Ale, the only one of its kind and the latest creation of Owner/Brewster Leslie Henderson. Reb Ale is Lazy Magnolia’s "Deep South Pale Ale," a crisp and clean beer with the perfect balance of hops and malt. Its body and clean finish are ideally suited for all seasons, and the brew is dry-hopped for a great aroma and impressive finish. And don’t look beyond the Oxford area to try a pint! Reb Ale was created especially for, and only for, Oxford, Mississippi.

Nice aroma slightly different from most APA’s in that theres quite a bit of tangerine layered in with grapefruit etc. I suspect Summit hops. Decent appearance, standard with thin white head. Very nice flavors but lacks the malt backbone to really standout. Nice mouthfeel. Overall this would score higher if it were more balanced. Otherwise it’s a very good bier.

Pours a dark golden orange color with pale golden yellow hues when held to a light source and a massive three finger frothy, pillowy white head that very, very slowly dissipates into a lasting cap and ring that leaves sporadic spots of chunky lacing. Slightly earthy piny hop aroma with subtle citrus notes and a biscuit malt backbone. Pretty bland smelling. Pretty carbonated up front leading into a crisp medium body that is very hops forward with a subtle malt backbone and bone dry finish. Very dry piney hops up front that linger throughout over a biscuit and graham cracker malt backbone that is kind of thinned out into a very long dry, bitter piny hop finish. Not very well balanced and kind of one dimensional.

The last of the Mississippi beers from a recent trade this was listed as "Deep South Pale Ale" on the label. Fairly standard for a light lawnmower beer it was not my favorite. Nonetheless it is a slight upgrade from your typical macro so if you happen to be stuck in the south this would not be the worst option.

Aroma / Appearance - Fading fast the pillowy head provided a nice cover for the coppery body underneath. Tame maltiness and a trace amount soap dulled what could have been at least a little crisp.

Flavor / Palate - Iced tea with a squeeze of lemons make this taste like Southern tea minus the pound of sugar. Very palateable and easy going it does not retain much of a finish. Overall this is fairly average and respectable. Maybe some day the caps will be lifted so Lazy Magnolia can try more complex styles.

12oz bottle courtesy of TheCheeseMan – thanks Daniel! Pours an overly carbonated hazy gold with a huge 4 finger foamy white head. The nose is wheat, grassy hops and malt. The taste is malt, grain and light citrus hops in the finish. An ok pale.

Source:Bottle from Frugal MacDoogals.
Glass:Pint.
Appearance:Gold/amber pour with a thin off white head.
Aroma:Caramel and flowers.
Flavor:Caramel base with a floral hop finish. A hint of metal as well, but not too much to detract.
Palate:Medium/light body with solid carbonation.
Overall:Not too bad, but still just an average beer.

Sweet malty aroma with golden color and thin head. Malty, well-carbonated mouthfeel with strong hoppiness in the finish and some honey notes. The bitter finish really lingers.

Bottle. Dark yellow pour with a thin white head. Aromas of rye and nutmeg. Backbone of a typical pale ale with a bit more of a floral component. A pleasent bitterness on the finish. Pretty good, bit there are quite a few pale ales I like better for the price.

Sampled at the 8th Annual Music City Brewer’s Festival. Pours a clear pale amber with a foamy white head. Aroma is very subtle with wheat, caramel, and orange. Taste is mild orange rind and caramel, very plain though. Medium thin body with light carbonation.

bottle thanks to jazzbassman. Pours a clear amber with a white head. Nose is of nuts, grain and honey. Taste is the same. Mouthfeel was thin, but had a little bitterness to it. Nothing special.
